What meals does your LO really enjoy?

Hi there, just writing my list for food shopping this week and I'm having one of those moments where I can't think of anything inspiring for meals this week.

My LO is 11 months old, we've been doing blw but I'm bored of all the usual stuff we have.

If I share his favourites please could you share any other things your LO's enjoy?

We regularly have:

Spag bol
Cottage/shephards pie
Moussaka (he doesn't have any teeth yet, hence lots of soft mushy things Grin)
Rissotto with chicken stock for chickeny flavour and veg, e.g. butternut squash
Pizza toast with just tom puree, mushrooms & cheese on toast
Jacket potatoes with tuna or baked beans and cheese

Any other ideas would be gratefully received!

DS2 is 10 months and is all time favourite meals are cous cous with philly and brocolli-very easy cause just cook the cous cous then mix in some philly and cooked brocolli! I can sort of make it stick into little balls so nice and easy to pick up! x

Ooh that's a good idea ihearttc! He loves all those things but never thought of combining them. That's one for the list, thanks!

How about omelette with veg through it?

Stir fry noodles with finger sized baby corn, mange tout, carrot etc? Great for baby feeding himself.

tralalala · 08/10/2011 20:49

baked tatties and tin of sardines (she loves it)
scrabbled egg
any frozen veg with fish fingers (lazy day!)
pasta pesto/tomatoes with hidden veg/

Fish pie, you can hide veggies in it, it has loads of protein and you can make the lumps smaller or bigger depending on what your dc can cope with. DS never turns his nose up at it!

Strips of Spanish omelette containing whatever leftovers: shredded chicken, ham, beef, mince, bits of leftover mashed or jacket potato, grated cheese, squashed chickpeas or lentils, chopped tomato, broccoli that went soft...

I make a panful and then finish it off under the grill so it rises, you need a pan with a non plastic handle for this thou gh.

He then eats it cold later on as a second meal or snack if there's any left over so it is a good way of using up odds and ends thriftily.

He also eats big pasta bows coated in Philly and herbs or lentil bolognnaise or mince bolognnaise sauce,

And rice class with peanut butter and mashed banana is a good snack

I also stew peaches or mash berries into creme Fraiche and he loves that too.

More great ideas, thanks!

tralalala we do have fishfingers and peas in the freezer for those occasions when I really can't face cooking anything else!

Especially like the stir fry idea too

cauliflower cheese is always a hit here!

Beoley2011 · 09/10/2011 22:05

my DS loves mild curry, any pasta dishes, lasagna, chicken paprika and fish pie. Meatballs are fantastic as fingerfood.

MedicalEd · 12/10/2011 12:45

Mine is a pudding monster. She is 7.5 months and loves loves loves natural yogurt, but also any milky/creamy puds, rice pudding, creme brulee, ice cream, baked egg custard. ect.
She also eats proper food like curry, risotto ect. Likes fish a lot and broccoli - I think its the texture of the top of the florets.

Ineedcake · 04/11/2011 12:13

Thanks for all the ideas!

Going to try him with a mild curry, he's not had that yet.

Any the pudding ideas are all great - he's been putting on weight fine but is quite a slender thing, (25th centile for weight, but 75th for height) so I want to make sure he has lots to keep him going especially now he's crawling and cruising everywhere.

DS2 is a bit obsessed with sticky rice. He'd happily eat mounds and mounds of it. Its easy to pick up clmps of it with your hands. Serve with some stir fried stuff of your choice

Tiredprobably · 07/11/2011 19:21

My 8mo likes curry especially Thai green curry, you can make it spicy for you then add yogurt to theirs, cooks it down and makes it creamy. Sticky coconut rice balls are a hit too!

Ineedcake · 09/11/2011 16:36

Oooh sounds lovely! How do you make sticky rice?
