I've been weaning my 6.5mo DS for the past couple of weeks and I'm happy to say he loves food. We've been doing a mixture of BLW and purees and meal times have been really fun. The only thing is.... he doesn't seem to know when to stop eating. I'm following the Gina Ford book we get for free in the book start packs and he eats way more than her recommendations. For lunch today he had:
- 2 toast fingers
- 4 cubes of sweet potato
- 3 cubes of broccoli
- 1 cube of peach mixed with a little baby rice
In between each course he had some sips of water but not a lot and the afterwards he fed from both breasts.
Am I right in thinking that's a lot of food? I tried actually tried not to give him the peach but after the broccoli he screamed until he saw me open the freezer door only stopped fussing under he saw me plop a peach cube in his bowl (it was actually supposed to be for me - I eat them like sweets - should I be ashamed of that??).
I wouldn't worry but he is putting on weight and is a proper fatty now - he's starting to get a double chin... he looks like Cartman from South Park.
At the same time he's also started to wake several times during the night (4 times last night). I haven't tried to feed him back to sleep (as he can't need it, can he??) but he screams for up to 1.5 hours before finally dropping into a fitful sleep. Is it because I'm feeding him too much and he's uncomfortable.
Sorry for the long post - I just don't know what to do.
