Is this ok for a 7mo?

I would think it's far too dense tbh. I can't think of the word I mean but I should think it's fairly easy to choke on

faverolles · 26/08/2011 15:51

I saw this in active convo's and thought for a horrible moment it was in the baby names section :o

Agree with boo, when you chew it, it's quite claggy and sticky, could easily be choked on.

LakeFlyPie · 26/08/2011 15:54

Is claggy the word (if so it's rather an unpleasant one Grin)?

I agree it will probably end up in a big sticky wodge in DC mouth.

I find the texture of toast is better for them to cope with, either plain or fruit bread toast soldiers work well.
Bread has a fair bit of salt in though, so I take that into account when planning other meals / snacks for the day.

yes, it is ok for a 7 month old. although as others have pointed out it's quite sticky ad hard to chew.
but give it a go!
i do seem to remember having to scoop a lump out of ds2's mouth when it got stuck to the roof of his mouth lol, but he liked it

Paschaelina · 26/08/2011 16:01

Soreen is ok after a month or two of practice IMO. Better is the cinnamon and fruit loaf Soreen does, much less sticky than maltloaf. Slice it really thinly with a bit of butter/spread. Very appreciated in the PaschBoy household.

mousesma · 26/08/2011 16:02

I agree this might be a bit of a choking hazard because it's so dense. Toast is a fantastic first food though and was a great favourite with my DD. No more than one slice a day though because of the salt content.

WhoahThere · 26/08/2011 16:33

Yes I've just had a slice to test and whilst it was really nice, defo a bit too squidgey for dd!

DD had some at 7 months no problems. I toasted it first which is the only way I like it so thats how she had it!

I wish I'd checked this before letting DD have a finger off DH. We're BLW and DD has great Tongue control so far. She loved it but then started gagging. We couldn't see it so assumed she'd swallowed it. It was stuck on the roof of her mouth and she started getting distressed and vomitting. I managed to get it off and out with a mouth flannel thing.

I hope it doesn't set her back. Fingers crossed for breakfast time.
