dd is 26 weeks today.
she has been having a little baby rice since about 21 weeks.(she was 2 weeks over due and this felt like right time to start) past week or so have started giving her pot, broc, caul, parsnip, turnip, carrot, apple, banana, etc, odd rusk and jar of baby porridge, leaving a gap of a day between diff foods.

Lately at night she has the most horrendous wind, leads to tears streaming down face .

am tempted not to feed her and go back to bottles but think she will be too hungry. anyone else experience this, any advice please?

So sorry to hear your poor DD is suffering. Perhaps you're being too adventurous. I'm not an expert but I'm sure I have read advice that potato and banana can both be quite difficult for young stomachs to deal with and broc, cauli etc can all give wind even in the most efficient digestive system i think.

As a soother for DD, try massaging her stomach lightly in a clockwise direction.

Oh I sympathise!!!!!!!

My DD took to solids fantastically well and I have been very adventurous. However, she suddenly got dreadful wind and had the tears too-really heartbreaking.Anyway,I narrowed it down by process of elimination and it was turnip!
I really didn't think it would be a problem but it was definitely the cause of DD's problem. No turnips in our house any more.

Good luck.

Poor little thing, again had to eliminate veg one by one, cauliflower was the windy culprit in our house. I found giving him sips of water from a cup worked well to bring it up as soon as he started going straight and showing signs of pain.

Good luck and keep her away from those christams sprouts,

My DD is a right windy trumper, she is 17 months now but I still avoid giving her garlic/onions as they make her really windy.

Have you tried giving ehr fennel tea, I think that is meant to aid digestion and rubbing her tummy if she does get inj a pickle.

I had something VERY similar with dd when I got too excited about feeding her and I took the advice of wise Mumsnetters and it worked brilliantly. They told me to ease right back on food and she was so much better. My advice is, go right back to basics. More milk, far, far less food, simply babyrice, a bit of soft pear, and I found the Hipp organic rice pudding went down well. Really small quantities. You've just been overdoing it.

broc, caul, parsnip, turnip, carrot, apple, banana, etc, odd rusk and jar of baby porridge

This would make me cry from farting too

(Aloha speaks much sense btw )

give her dilute fennel tea and homeopathic chamomila (or nelsons teething powder)for the discomfort
dont eat cabbage garden peas etc etc
they do get used to the foods pretty quickly though and i found they gradually get better at digesting after a few weeks there may no be a problem although they only get used to the food if you carry on eating it ! iyswim
