Bland meat/fish recipes

Does anyone know of any easy to prepare and fairly bland meat recipes for an 8 month old. I tried dd on Annabel Karmel 'fish in cheese sauce' and 'my first bolognese sauce' but she hated them both and shuddered every time I put a spoonful in her mouth. I think it is because the flavours are too strong.

Thanks. I never thought of just doing mince with veg. I'm not a very enthusiastic cook!

DD doesn't seem to like anything with strong flavours. She won't eat pureed apple/pear unless it's mixed with rusk or rice. But she loves her veg.

I've tried her with toast, bread and butter and biscuits but she doesn't seem to know what to do with them. She sucks them for a little while and then gets fed up. The last time I gave her toast she stored a big lump of it in her cheek - I didn't realise this and she almost choked on it when I fed her her milk. I think she thinks it's not food unless it's on a spoon or I give it to her in tiny pieces.

How long have you been weaning her GillL? It is often difficult to start with, and very frustrating after an hour slaving over the stove.

I actually have the opposite "problem" as if the food is bland, DS is not interested. Took endless home knitted meals to realise this (after he grabbed a handful of my smoked mackrel risotto, stuffed it in and went back for more). His favourite cheese is Stilton! He still absolutely hates tomato based dishes though so don't worry if bolognese takes a while longer!

As Psychobabble says, it takes a long time for them to accept any flavour (think its about 12 goes or something?)

I know you asked for meat recipes, but try cauliflower cheese... its so easy to dilute with the steamed cauli water, until it becomes pretty bland. The blandest of all meat dishes is chicken minced with mashed potato and diluted with a lot of milk.

Finally, don't worry.. your DD doesn't actually "need" food yet. It is all practice at the moment, and she will be probably loving the times she gets to suck on a biscuit or some toast. One of the most important factors in my sons weaning incidentally was sharing meals. He became furious if we were eating and he wasn't, so now, even with a sandwich at lunchtime, I sit down with him and share bits. Sunday dinner is a nightmare, and I will have to time it earlier now as I have realised he waits up until it is out of the oven and he has his little bowl of it - he can smell it cooking for hours and battles sleep until the last!

By the way, you probably already realise this, but their meals don't have to be given a name such as "fish pie" or "bolognese". Its just "mashed chicken with potato" or "cauliflower in milk with a strand of cheese" IYSWIM. It can even be mashed potato with mashed apple. They don't know what "officially" goes together - just what they like

Hi, sorry for the late reply.

I started weaning dd at 6 months so it's been 2 months.

I cooked some chicken with various veg with just water and I mix that with potato/sweet potato and she seems happy with that. She loves cauliflower so I might try cooking that in milk and add a bit of cheese. Thanks for all your suggestions. I really should think a bit more simply.
