1YO refusing milk AND formula...Help!

I'll try to make this brief.

My dd was turning 1 during a holiday abroad and as I knew she wouldn't drink cow's milk I planned to wait until we returned to tackle that hurdle. I was told that her regular formula was available in Canada so only took along enough for the journey. Alas it wasn't and she refused every formula offered to her along with milk. So for two weeks she quite happily drank water out of her sippy cup.

We have returned and she is still refusing milk (whether in bottle or cup the response is as though I was trying to poison her) and is now reluctant to have formula. She will drink a bit of formula out of a bottle if hungry/thirsty enough but so far the most she has had is 200 mls over the course of a day and if offered in a cup it is spat back out and the cup flung on the floor. She will tolerate a teeny amount of milk mixed in the formula but it is negligible.

She is happy to have milk on her cereal so has been getting some extremely sloppy breakfasts Grin and will eat natural yogurt with some fruit so has been getting a vat of it after dinner Grin and enjoys cheeses, white sauces, etc. She does have a pretty good and varied diet.

My health visitor is not particularly useful (finds the baby aspect of her job tedious Hmm) and her only suggestion was to water down the formula so that it is less appealing so milk will taste better. This is pointless as we have discovered - dd is happily SMA or nothing. But she has stressed that it is very important that dd drinks milk.

Does anyone have any advice as I am now getting quite worred AND the whole process is extremely frustrating and then more worry that the poor child is going to grow crooked or even not at all Confused!

She needs about 12oz milk a day - I'm sure you can get that in with milk in cereal, yoghurts, cheese, custard, cheese sauce etc.

Rita... I thought it was substantially more than that so I am relieved.

I guess it's just persevere. I was reading through some previous posts and some people have had a bit of luck with goat's milk so might give that a try. She must be so sick of yogurt & cheese by now!

As a milk drinker I am mystified how formula can be preferable...
