Porridge fingers?

I saw a method for making porridge fingers on here once for finger foods for babies, but I can't find it in the archive. Can anyone tell me how to do it? Thanks.

The Baby led weaning cookbook says 3 tablespoons oats, 3 tablespoons milk, pat into the bottom of a flat dish & 3 mins in the microwave.

I find they are too soggy after 3 mins, and usually turn them over & give another min.

Hope that helps

Great, thanks! BTW, what do you think of the cook book?

I really, really like it. There are some delicious recipes and they are easy to follow. For example, I would never normally make quiche, but had success with their one.

I found it has given me more confidence with BLW, and opened my eyes to what DS might be able to eat.

Their tuna croquettes recipe is a real winner too!

Ooh, those things sound yummy! Please could you link the cookbook? Am thinking of doing BLW with DS2 (even if he's not born yet!). TIA

Porridge fingers were a hit this morning and so quick to make, although I didnt check back to this thread and only did them for 1min 30 secs and they were fine - guess it depends on the size of your spoon! I am not sure anything actually into his tummy though....

Moodykat - it's on Amazon for about £8 ish

God, I'm such a lazy Mum! I just make myself some extra thick porridge and spoon some out onto a plate to set/congeal (LO eats it cold) before I add a little milk to mine which thins it and cools it just enough so it's ready for me to eat! LO eats her porridge cold, about an hour after her first breastfeed of the day, by which time LO's porridge has set into a kind of cakey lump that can be easily picked up. Blush

That's not lazy, just sensible! I'll do the same when I make porridge for DS1, good idea!

Great idea gourd! Will have to give that a try.

moodykat this is the book

Ooh, thank you!

I'm presuming you are using normal porridge oats for the fingers? We only ever have oat so simple! I've just bought ready brek but realised this is fine oats. Would the proper oats be better for fingers?

Thanks

CamperFan · 22/05/2011 07:55

I don't have ready brek, but does it set as much as porridge oats?

I have no idea, I haven't had it since I was a child!! What porridge do you normally use?

Thanks

CamperFan · 25/05/2011 07:50

Just regular oats - own brand ones.
