Moving to self feeding

I was determined to blw DD but just before starting I had a choking incident with DS and was too freaked out so went down the puree route

DD (9 months) has a great appetite and will eat anything I give her. Puree wise we have moved on to lumps - she has her meat and veg chopped and tonight had spaghetti about 1/2 inch long

She happily chomps on toast, rice cakes and those organix herb crisps. Has eaten a meatball (like an apple - very cute) but not keen on steamed veg sticks. Just wants to get onto the main event (purees)

How do I move her on? Is this something that could wait? What would you suggest I offer finger food wise?

What age do they have things like raisins and blueberries?

Many thanks for any help!

Hello, after 6mths babies can eat everything aside from whole nuts, honey and high salt/sugar foods. It sounds like your lo is ready to eat more formed food. As long you don't add salt to your meals then you could give her some of your meal mashed up or food like rice/pasta/cous-cous.
My lo is nearly 10 months has raisins. I do sit with her when she them. You can always break them apart and give them to her.
The finger foods you are giving are good so continue with them. You counld put some toppings on her toast and savoury rice cakes like mashed banan/avocado/salt-free peanut butter/cream cheese. You could give her potato wedges/strips of omelette/fruit after her main course to get her more used o finger foods and to vary her meal-time too. The more varyed my lo's meal the more she will eat. Babies after 6mths could have any food as finger food long as not salty, not loaded with sugar and not spicy.

I hope that was helpful :)

Thanks for your reply!

I do give her what DS (and us) are having mashed up, and she is fine with that. Haven't used salt since weaning DS!!

Tried some chicken pieces today. Not intersted! But she did have a nibble on a cheese stick.

I guess I just need to persist.

Do you know when they can eat raw veg? Not sure if I should still be steaming carrots etc
