I think it's fine, but wanted to get some other thoughts about DD's diet. I started weaning at 5 and a half months and she really, really loves eating. Great. I started giving a bottle of formula in the evenings at about the same time to give me a bit of a break. She no longer feeds in the night (is now 8 months). So, she's gone from bf'ing 5-6 times a day right down to once or twice and I'm concerned she might not be getting enough milk.

Today is as follows:

Breakfast - weetabix and banana with natural yoghurt
11ish - a bit of water from a bottle
Lunch - cod and sweet potato followed by a feed (although she threw up milk afterwards)
Dinner - tomato and courgette pasta, apple and pear puree

Bedtime - 3.5 fl. Oz of formula, refused the rest

Thoughts? TIA?

I gave the DDs a tommee tippee with water in at this age, with their meals, and also used whole milk on their cereals in the morning. It sounds like it wouldn't hurt to offer some more liquids.

It sounds like she's getting a good bit of food though so I wouldn't worry about her not getting enough calories. All that food + a couple of breast feeds + a bottle of formula is plenty sounds like plenty calorie-wise!

I BF both of them to about 14 months - they were having 2 or 3 BF a day too at 8 months - and they are quite well Smile if that's any kind of reassurance!

Thanks Sardine - I've tried a tommee tippee which she just gums, but shall perservere. Tried a Doidy, which had her very confused.

DS was still on quite a regimented routine at this stage, so was feeding much more as it was all timetabled Blush. I've dropped her morning feed as it's easier to all go down for breakfast together first thing. Maybe I should re-instate?

She'll get the hang of the tippee cup!

If she's doing plenty of wees and they aren't concentrated (dark/strong smelling), and she's eating well, and seems healthy and happy then I'd carry on as you are TBH if it's working for you as a family Smile
