Is there such a thing as too much milk?

Hi,

My baby is 6.5 months old and after a rocky week with the dreaded sickness bug she seems to be getting on really well with her food. She is having three meals a day and hasn't cut down on her milk intake at all, she has moved one feed from in the day to the night (sometime between 2 and 5am) but other than that she is still having 5 bottles of 7oz!!! Should I be actively encouraging her to drop her milk a little now? I'm surprised she is still having the same amount and thought she would be taking less for at least a couple of bottles! Do you think she is still building herself up from the bug or is this normal?! I'd obviously love her to drop the night feed!

Thanks

DD1 didn't drop any feeds till she was 9/10m, she was bf though, so she prob took less at each feed before that without me noticing.

it's v unlikely any solids you give will have as many calories as bm/formula, it's still the main source of nutrition for a while yet.

Oh good, was starting to think I was overfeeding her!!

So when do they start dropping feeds then?

how long's a piece of string?!

from DD1 and friends children I would say that at about 9m they start to get more from food and the milk starts getting dropped, but some will be much earlier, some much later. one friend's boy didn't drop any feeds till 17m!
