Is it normal for the number of wet nappies to go down once you start weaning?

We've been doing BLW for about 4 weeks and it's going well so far. I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid or whether it's a problem ....... but the number of wet nappies seems to be reducing. Unlike before weaning when I'd get 5-6 really wet nappies now it seems to be more like 3 or 4 and sometimes they only seem half-full.

Is this natural because some calories are now from solid food rather than milk or should I be worried. I offer a drink of water with each meal - sometimes she just has a mouthful but she has taken an oz on occasion.

She seems to be really happy in herself and no signs of dehydration etc.

Should I just relax and chill?

Anyone? Interested as since starting weaning my Lo has needed changing a lot less too, although we're not BLW.

I don't know if it's ok or not, but we've had the same with DS (7mo) since starting to wean him (BLW too). He is still his usual exuberant self though so I'm not too fussed. Just making sure we offer him water at mealtimes (though he hardly takes any) and try to give him soft fruit/cucumber etc so he can get some fluids that way. I figure so long as he's still getting plenty of milk he should be fine.

I think DD's wet nappies reduced and at first the number of dirty nappies was a bit all over the place too - some days several, then none for two or three days. It did settle down though!

That's reassuring. Will just chill as she seem fine in herself

I don't know about a connection with weaning but have certainly found with mine that as they get a bit older rather than doing lots of little wees they so fewer big ones so you can actually notice when they've done one, change them and then go for quite a while before having to change them again although of course sod's law they will do one of those huge weaning poo splats right after a nappy change Grin
