New to BLW and questions about meat and size of food

I've been basically giving DD who is just 6 months 'fingers' of whatever we're having.

Obviously a lot gets thrown about but I know some is going down as her poo is changing.

DH keeps saying that there is no point giving her meat as she cant eat that with just gums? Is that true?

He also reckons that my pieces of other food are too big for her to get through with her gums and will put her off.

What do you experienced BLWers do please?

dd1 seemed to be able to manage meat without teeth - we cut strips of chicken breast, steak etc.
dd2 is less adept at self-feeding, but is still really keen to suck and chew on a strip of meat even though nothing goes in. we cut the meat to the size of a steak cut chip.

Nah, it's good to get them used to meat (if you want them to eat it eventually) by trying it early on, I think. I used to give DS strips of steak! She might not 'eat' it but she'll have a good chew and suck and probably get some flavour/juices out of it; she'll be learning about the texture too.

In terms of size of chunks, it's all about making it easier for them to pick up, so big bits are easier than little ones when you're first starting. Think 'big chip' size. Sounds like you're doing it right, TBH.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'll ignore DH and just keep on chopping as I am then :o
