How much milk does your 8 month old have?

DD is BLW and doing quite well. She actually eats quite a bit although from a fairly small choice at the moment- my fault i can't think of that many things to give her which don't require a spoon!

She was having 3 bottles x 8oz until 2 weeks ago. Anyway she was still being quite sickly dispite being told that weaning would stop that, so HV advised us to change to follow on milk, which the tub says to give 6oz of. So she's now on 3 x 6oz = 18oz per day.

Is this enough milk for an 8 month old? She's growing, still sleeping through, happy, content, stopped being as sick! But I worry that nutritionally this isn't enough.

thanks for your opinions!

Mine is on 3 x 7 oz follow on milk. Though doesn't always finish every bottle, so might be similar to yours.

I'm sure if she is growing, sleeping, happy, filling nappies etc and is now not being sick she's doing absolutely fine. Apparently weaning babies older than 6 months need at least 600ml (20oz) of formula a day, but this is still a guideline. You can always offer milk in her foods (cheesy sauces, milk in cereal etc) to up her milk intake too.

My 8 1/2 month old DD is on 4 milk feeds a day (has about 6oz a feed, we still use first stage SMA) and 3 food meals a day, just for info, which is still a lot I suppose, especially considering she is smaller than average. But I'm trying to trust in her and she'll let me know when she wants less milk. She is also sleeping, growing, happy, peeing and pooing etc :)

Sorry I lost ths thread!

Thank you- It seems like she's on about the right amount then. She has cereal for breakfast with cows milk and plenty of yoghurts and cheese etc.
