DS 5 month old, he is 8.5kg, around 90th percentile on weight and length charts. EBF. I have been feeding DS purees for a week - veggies and fruit, annabel karmel recipes basically.
Yesterday, for lunch DS had 5 tablespoons of pear puree (although it was very watery) and 3 tablespoons of roast pumpkin puree. Is this too much for a 5 month old? He loves eating, even tried to grab the spoon to feed himself. I tried stopping after 1 tablespoon of roast pumpkin and the little guy was not happy :). Someone made a comment to be that I should control how much he eats as obesity is becoming a major problem for children. My first reaction is - that is a bit silly since DS is a growing baby and needs all the nutrients so it would be crazy to put him on a diet. Any advice anyone? What is the right portion for a 5 month old? Surely it depends very much on the individual baby - DS is rather big so he would require more food?
For the past 2 days, his stool has come out as a solid lump - not hard, but quite adult like. (smelling a bit of pumpkin this morning :) ) Is this normal? It used to be rather watery.
Thank you!
