Can weaning earlier help a sicky baby

My ds (18 weeks) has always been a sicky baby. He does not have reflux, is a very happy chap, not bothered at all by being sick and weighs 18lb so no problems with weight gain. He has 5 7oz bottles a day and sleeps 6.30 to 6.30 so again, no problems with sleep. However, he can get through 5 or 6 outfits a day, about 10 bibs and dh and I never have sick-free clothes. It varies from small amounts, to larger, it can be clear, milky or thick. Excuse the pun, but we are sick of sick!

So....would weaning him before 6 months have any chance of reducing this sickness??? Has anyone with this problem weaned early and seen an improvement?

Daft as it sounds, have you tried offering less milk, or teats with smaller holes - it might be he's just guzzling too much and then bringing up whatever he didn't need?

If we give him any less, he gets very very cross! I don't think that its that he's getting too much, as he can be sick two or three hours after he's fed. I don't really want to give him less than he seems to want...

We also have a very sicky baby (not reflux - a happy puker!), our HV advised early weaning as it might help so we started at around 19 weeks and went very slowly from there. Once on solids I didn't notice any difference in the frequency or amount of sick just that it smelt far worse :-( We didn't see an improvement until about 6.5 months and then I'm not sure if that was down to the stomach finally being stronger or that I had stopped the Gaviscon and changed to folllow on milk around that time.

No you just get different colour and far more foul smelling sick!
My DD Didnt stop till she walked but it did get marginally better

If he is a hungry boy tho, feel free to start earlier than the recommended 6 months (prepares herself from a flogging from mumsnet martyrs)

My HV advised me to wean DS at 5 months for exactly this problem, and no it didn't help at all.
He eventually grew out of it at about 14 months....
