So far, my 8 month old is offended by weetabix, shreddies, cheerios, toast, and anything else that requires very little effort.

Any suggestions? I have been able to get her to eat a bit of pear in her fingers, but she's even going off banana now. She does spoon-food and BLW, but she is mostly a bit grumpy about eating, and especially grumpy about breakfast.... she seems particularly to dislike anything that is a sludgy texture. She used to eat weetabix, but has gone off it. Most of the finger food gets flung, and then at about 9am she'll chug a vast amount of milk.

Is she just not a breakfast person?

Scrambled or hard boiled egg? Porridge?

Maybe she is being continental and fancies cold meats and cheese Grin

Mmmmm...... the egg-porridge based stuff sounds a bit like hard work before school. But I might persist with some egg at the weekend....

Meanwhile, tomorrow I shall try her on a platter of edam and salami. Probably.

Maybe she just doesn't like breakfast first thing, have you tried milk when she gets up and then offering breakfast later?

we've swapped it round a few times, but not for a while now. Currently she gets a teeny tiny bf first-thing (have been doing mixed practically since birth, so supplies of milk virtually non-existent), and then breakfast about 15-30 minutes later, at 7-ish. Then if she doesn't fall asleep on the school run, I give her vast amounts of formula at 9-9.30 but she usually falls asleep while drinking it. I suppose I am assuming that breakfast will be more difficult the more tired she is, whereas she will drink lots of milk even when exhausted.

Eggy bread? Pancakes? You can make a pancake batter the night before then is nice and quick in the morning. You can make drop scone/scotch pancakes, or if you make the regular crepe type, you can use rice flour, spelt flour or buckwheat flour, for different tastes and textures. Lo here has porridge usually, as that's what we have and we are now all eating together 'cos she wakes around 5:30 or 6, has a milk feed, then porridge with us before further milk feed when partner leaves for work. Until recently she's not wanted solid food first thing in the morning though, only milk, so was having her first solid meal at about 9-10 am till very recently.

My 8 monther sounds similar - tiny BF on waking about 6.45, Breakfast at 8 and then a huge milk feed at 9-9.30. She like yoghurt so i end up crushing other foods into that to get her to eat them!

Porridge wouldn't be hard work, though. You can do Ready Brek with banana in a minute or so in the microwave.

Also, as Indith says, maybe do just milk first thing and then your dd could have breakfast after the school run. We've always done this with dd (now two) and she'll often go well over an hour before eating breakfast.

My DS loves crumpets with a smear of butter or cream cheese? Cut into quarters! And strawberries, the little PFB!
