DD (our first) was EBF until 5 months (she refuses bottles), at which point we were on our knees with 6 or more night wakings and tried baby rice in desperation. She started quite well and was happily taking down fruit and veg purees at first, but gradually became much more fussy and demanding (wanting to feed herself, refusing her food in favour of snatching inappropriate things off our plates, bursting into screams when put in her high chair, but happy to eat on our laps). Now, at 7.5m, she seems to have trouble pooing-- at least 5 or 6 tiny, near-solid poos per day, all of which still have recognisable food lumps in them.
She is also chronically unhappy (nothing new-- she has always been a challenging, "high-need" baby), still waking at least 3-4x a night, settling only with BFing.
My question is, could this all be due to a digestion problem? Is it normal to be able to detect individual lumps of carrot and oranges, still intact in their poos? Should I be pushing for a referral? My GPs think I am one of those hysterical overreacting mothers... am I? I just don't think it's normal for a baby to be so cranky all the time!
