Am actually feeling quite pleased with myself so thought I?d share and my happy mood.

She?ll be 7 months next week, started weaning at 5 months and she has only ever had jars and packets, I am Miss Can?t cook won?t cook and thought it would be far to complicated and time consuming but how wrong was I? I got my self a recipe book for babies been out and bought lots of organic Veg. stood peeling and chopping with a silly grin on my face, it smells alright as it?s simmering away in the pan - she better bloody like it! What shall I cook next?. This is strangely quite satisfying?

LilacBump · 27/10/2005 19:31

well done. i hope she loves it and you continue with it

GeorgieVickyLou · 27/10/2005 22:21

Thanks Both.. will have to wait and see if she will actually eat it now or just spit it over me and gag... i ate the last bit that wasn't quite enough for a portion to freeze (my story any way) and i liked it (i can't stand the Jars and packets)

Fantastic GVL. I know what you mean about having a silly grin on your face. There's something fundamentally satisfying about it isn't there?

I hope she likes it.

Good for you.
I've been telling all and sundry for years that cooking is enormous fun!

GeorgieVickyLou · 27/10/2005 22:31

I quite looking forward to making another 'batch' of food for her tomorrow. Never know, i might even be able to make her first Birthday Cake, i quite like that idea

Cooking for people you love...there is nothing better Itell ya!

Hulababy · 27/10/2005 22:35

Aw, lovely.

I love cooking. I cook for DH and DD a lot - and myself, but that isn't the same. Since moving Ihave gotten back into habit of planning meals in advance and cooking meals from scratch - and freezing portions to use later. It is very satisfying.

A really easy one for the freezer is cauliflower cheese. Make the cheese sauce up with formula/breastmilk and mash the cooked cauliflower into it with a fork and freeze. My DS loves it!

GeorgieVickyLou · 27/10/2005 22:50

Thanks SS, was just thinking me and DP could also have that but perhaps not if it's got formula in it, could i use full fat milk? sure i saw it in another recipe in my new shinny book

I think they say that you can use cows milk in baby food so long as its cooked.

However, I tend towards the slightly anal about things like this though and have stuck with formula cooking

That said, its dead easy to make 2 cheese sauces and blob in 2 seperate cauliflower cheese pots! I like my adult cauliflower cheese with lots of black pepper and topped with breadcrumbs blitzed in the processor. You don't need to go to that extent witht he baby variety - steamed cauli mashed with the cheese sauce
