hi

10mo ds has started to drop his food on the floor intentionally, how do i respond? do i ignore or do i tell him not to (he understands no now, but don't know if giving a response will just seem to 'reward' him and make him keep doing it)

thanks

Just ignore him.

He'll get bored eventually.

I used to turn my back and pointedly ignore him. It worked quite well because I could see his reflection in the window. When he got bored and started to eat properly I would spin back round and start fussing over him for eating so well.

Get a mat and/or make more food Grin

It's a phase, I think they all go through it. He's just playing and experimenting.

My 8.5 month DS does this and I secretly find it quite amusing as he drops it then leans over the side of his chair looking at it on the floor as if to say "oh bugger, how did that get there?". I just pick it up and give it back without making a fuss.

You don't see adults dropping their food on purpose so I guess he'll grow out of it some time Grin
