DD (7 mths) eats fine but I'm not sure how much to bf her now she has solid food. At the moment she has: breakfast bf, 11AM meat + veg purée + bf, 2-3PM fruit / yog, 6PM milk porridge and bf before bed at 730. She has another bf during the night. She has water to drink as well of course. Is this enough, or should I be bfing her at every meal? She doesn't seem bothered...she'll feed if offered it but doesn't seem to miss it if not, so I'm not sure Confused.

I'd be really grateful for any advice!

Hi - my DS is the same age and on 3 hefty meals a day. My bf counselor advised to wait until he demands it, and as a result he's spaced them out like this:

On waking, roughly around 6am

7am breakfast
10am - bf, but starting to lose interest in this, with a bit of nudging could drop it

12.30 lunch
2.30pm bf - still seems to like this, and I often offer it if I think he could use a nap!
5pm dinner
6.30pm - bf before bed
11pm - ff
3am - bf (trying to ditch this!!!)

I would just try and go with the flow, but it's hard at this stage because the milk is still so important. I think the first thing and last thing feeds are the most vital (and one in the night if your DD is like my DS!!!).

I don't want to push the mid morning/mid afternoon ones out to hard yet, not until we've cracked losing the 3am bf.

You could always offer milk in a cup inbetween meals (or a snack, if she's that way inclined.

I would go with how happy you are with how much solids she's eating, tbh. And follow her lead a bit? My DS is also a bit not bothered unless offered, so you could always try dropping one of the day feeds and see what happens?

HTH xx
