DS now 6 months started weaning at 19 weeks. He's now on 3 meals a day, though I am still giving him small meals- an egg cup full of puree/baby porridge at each meal. I am also weaning him off the breast and he is mainly ff now. He wakes 4-5 times at least during teh night to be fed. Do I need to increase the quantity of solids? he always cries for more solids at each meal- but I don't want to give him too much as am scared he won't want to take his bottle (he's always been difficult to feed from the breast or bottle, but seems to love solids, so far).

Any advice? Thanks

If he's crying for more food at meal times I would let him have it, as long as you are sure that he is getting a balanced diet.

How about giving him milk first, and then solids after? I do meals roughly an hour after a milk feed - then you can let him eat as much as he likes.

He needs a minimum of 600ml milk a day from 6 months I think, but you can also add lots of milk, cheese and yoghurt to his meals.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try it the other way round today and increase the quantity.

Are you sure he is waking due to hunger? Sleeping is a learned art and you might find it just takes him a bit of time to get the hang of doing it for ages.

That said if he still seems hungry then do for it.
