Too much fruit???

DD is 11mo today and we have BLW'd since 6m. She has really taken to her food and will chomp her way through almost anything Smile

The thing that I am a bit worried about sometimes is the amount of fruit she can seemingly put away in one sitting. She makes it very clear when she has had enough of whatever savoury option she might be having, but when I then offer her fruit, she will eat LOADS. Honestly, she goes on and on if I let her. Her nappies look like fruit salad at times Shock Grin

My question is, should I limit her daily intake of fruit? I do try to mix it up so she has a variety (tho she does have her firm faves) but where, if anywhere, do I draw the line?

Thanks!

Only worry if it results in a serious poo explosion or causes distress due to painful wind etc! My parents say my sister and I ate so many clementines as primary aged kids that we literally turned orange! Fruit acid can damage teeth though (acid erosion of the enamel) so perhaps follow the fruit with some cheese or milk to neutralise and wait a while before brushing teeth to avoid smearing the acid around the teeth.

I'd just offer what she wants - trust her to know what she needs & all that. DS is a fruit monster - he hates veg nowadays - and on most days he eats most of a tin of peach slices, a banana or two, dozens of grapes, some pear and/or apple and maybe a plum. His nappies are the same as you're describing.

He's 13 m.o. now and much clearer about what he wants - he points to the fridge / fruit bowl / cupboard shelves as appropriate and shouts until you get the right thing out, when he bounces up & down with excitement and shouts some more till you give it to him.

When we're at the market / supermarket I often have to buy 'emergency' grapes or bananas to stop a meltdown when he sees some on a shelf. Grin

gourd, that's useful about the acid.

Do your fruit monsters sleep through the night? Mine also will eat more fruit than anything else (also used BLW) and is far from sleeping through at 10 months old.

No, peasized, DS doesn't, but I've never thought it was fruit to blame. Wink

Sleep problems here have mostly been due to an inability to settle himself between sleep cycles, not hunger. We often only have one waking, which is habit-related: he wakes around the time I go to bed (we co-sleep). He does get bad wind if he has something like sweetcorn in the evening, which wakes him too.
