Blush

DS is nearly 6m, combined blw and mush, mostly run out of food, can i give him a mini potato waffle? Or is that the equivalent of wotsits and coke? Grin

Tbh, i am a bit baffled by BLW

They're a bit salty really.. could you just give him some milk today instead?

Do you have any bread/fruit/yoghurts etc?

BertieBotts · 04/02/2011 11:19

Yes! :)

For an emergency, fine, it won't kill him Grin

For future reference look at the packet and see how much salt one waffle contains. If it only lists sodium (not salt) then multiply by 2.5.

Tillyscoutsmum · 04/02/2011 11:19

I think the salt content is on the high side (not that the occasional one would do a massive amount of harm)

My dc's both loved mash potato and it was pretty messy. I bought a waffle maker and made my own. They particularly loved ones mixed with cheese and peas/sweetcorn (as do I Smile)

Oh and a baby under a year can have up to 1 gram of salt per day, sorry!

JarethTheGoblinKing · 04/02/2011 11:21

just realised that there's probably a similar amount of salt in a waffle that's in a slice of bread.. I'm sure a one off will be fine.

SupersonicDave · 04/02/2011 11:23

Thanks. have got some mush in the freezer, but he likes to have something to play with/gum too, they are the mini ones if that makes any difference Confused

love the idea of the waffle maker!

It was probably my best BLW investment. I make a huge load of mash at the beginning of the week and then add different things to some of it each day. I'm not sure my DS knows there is any food that isn't "waffle" shaped Grin

A couple of mini ones should be fine for now

BertieBotts · 04/02/2011 11:32

Look on the packet to see the salt content - different brands etc are all different anyway. I found that birds eye 'mushed up veg' burgers contain huge amounts of salt compared to the dalepak (corner shop) ones which I assumed would be the worst offenders.

SupersonicDave · 04/02/2011 12:31

It says on the packet:
0.4g salt per 4 mini waffles.

Thought that was very good actually. DS had 2, but by the looks of what is on the floor, ate one - very popular! Think i may have to look up waffle makers...

That's nothing :) I would definitely use them then - there's 0.5 grams of salt in a slice of white bread IIRC! :)

montmartre · 04/02/2011 12:49

TSM- please could you tell us which waffle maker you have?

Tillyscoutsmum · 04/02/2011 12:59

I've got a Krups one here I had a cheaper one before but it wasn't really deep enough for potato ones but this one is great (and it matches my coffee maker )

montmartre · 04/02/2011 13:46

Aha! That is the one I was eyeing up (we too have krups coffee maker) Grin thank you
