I know you're not meant to give whole nuts until 3 years but what is the current advice abut giving e.g. peanut butter?

the NHS says from 6 months Assuming there is no family history of allergy, it also says not to give whole nuts under 5! Much older than I thought.

I think that may be a personal choice on how well you think your child behaves themselves when they eat and chew issue.

DD nicked a bit of my toast with peanut butter on when she was about 1. No adverse reaction and no history of allergies in the family so I carried on giving it to her, especially since she won't touch meat.

Make sure you check the label, I bought the 'healthy' organic stuff only to find it had more sugar and palm oil in than the supermarket own brand.

DD had it from 1 year and ds had it from about 9 months. We use whole earth stuff that has no added sugar

If you have no history of allergies, then as soon as poss. It seems that the latest evidence (for the general population - not those with family histories) is that the earlier allergens are introduced once you start solid food, the better.

HV told me to give it when dd was 6 months. I often do peanut butter on toast now as she loves it and won't touch avocados or eggs so it's a giid alternative source of iron to meat.
