Taking homemade food out

Hello - can anyone tell me how they go about taking homemade frozen puree's out and about?

Do you heat them up to piping hot before you go as i read you should do this somewhere? Or do you take them frozen and feed once defrosted?

Also how long before you need to discard the food, is there a recommended time limit as there is for formula?

Thanks!

I've bought a Thermos food flask and tried it for the first time last weekend. I heated the food until it was really hot then put it in the flask. Fed DS about 3hrs later and it was abit colder than I would have liked but still warmish.

ok thanks - and is there any limit on how soon you have to use food once defrosted i.e as in with formula it's 2 hours? Or doesn it vary depending on the food?

I think it's 24 hours in the fridge katiecubs but don't quote me on it!

I used to nuke it in the microwave until piping hot, then take out in an avent bottle bag (in a small lockable container). I found it slowly cooled so by the time we were ready to eat it was the right temp, or could be left to stand for a min or 2 if too hot.

Just feed it at room temperature, saves heating at all. The last thing you want to do is create a fussy eater who will only take food at a certain temperature.
