Milk feeds and weaning???

Hi, My DD is nearly 9 months old and is EBF. Up untill about 2 months ago she would feed for around 45mins to 1 hour at a time on the breast (both sides together). Since the last 2 months she has cut down to literally 5-7 mins a side feeding 4 times a day. The HV keeps telling me thats normal and that she will take what she needs. I'm really worried as dont feel like she's getting enough milk. She's now told me to drop a feed too, so she'll be getting 3 feeds a day literally 5 mins a side.

Is that normal do you think? I'm quite worried. Please tell me your thoughts x

sounds totally normal to me - my 3 dc have all been quick feeders, but even so an hour at the breast sounds like a blimmin long time!

if you dont want to drop a feed then dont - be guided by your dd and drop the feed when she isnt interested in it any more. If you feel there is a shortfall then make up her intake with dairy products, milk in cereal, etc

My ds is EBF, started weaning a month ago.
He has always been a quick feeder, he'll literally be 5 mins at the breast.
Its good though, it means Im not sitting around for him to feed for ages!

You don't need to drop a feed, you can still feed on demand.

I'd say it's less usual for a 7 month old to take an hour than it is to take 5 minutes, but both are normal. My ds had taken 5-10 minutes each side since about 4 months. He's 6 months now and has 5 feeds of that length a day.

My DS used to take up to an hour to feed until about 4 months, then got gradually quicker and now only takes 5 mins max per side (almost 6 months now). I think he's just got bigger and stronger so can feed more efficiently, and is much less sleepy so isn't dozing through most of it! He's kept growing at the sae rate so I'm assuming he's getting all he needs.
