Tips on cooking/storing pasta

I want to introduce pasta to DDs diet, have read buying little soup pasta is ideal so have bought that. But are there any clever ways of cooking a few portions at once rather than single portions? I can't think how you could store cooked pasta, i.e presumably you can't freeze it like you can cooked veg or fruit purees but it seems mad to cook a little teaspoon of pasta!

Can't you just make pasta for yourself and gave DC a bit of it?
Ditto with rice, potato etc?

Trouble is I don't eat rice, pasta or potatoes (only way I can keep the weight off) and I'm thinking of when I want to add a bit to say her lunch or something.

Was just hoping someone might have a genius idea on freezing it or something.

add it to the purees you're freezing before they go in teh freezer.

or just cook a teaspoon....

You can store cooked pasta for a couple of days in the fridge and just give it a very quick blast in the microwave. Make sure you rinse it under the tap once it's cooked though, something about getting rid of the starch.

perfect, thanks all!

I usually keep cooked pasta covered in a cup of water in the fridge for a couple of days. When I need it, I just take out a bit and refresh with some hot water.

Not sure how old your DD is, but from quite a young age we gave our DD rigatoni as they were of a decent size and she could hold them easier than other shapes. Now she's older (1yo) we often give her spirals (they soak up sauce well) or penne (for the same reason).

If you're happy your DD can take egg okay, using egg pasta is a good way of getting some extra protein in.

I have frozen pasta before no problem.

I figured if there are frozen adult pasta ready meals available which you can heat in the microwave, then surely freezing my own pasta and doing the same is fine also.

But, for 8-10 mins of cooking, freezing isnt worth it tbh

I do make and freeze cheese and tomato sauces though in little portions to go with pasta.

I freeze pasta in the same way as I do fruit/veg - in ice cube trays then transfer to plastic bag. Makes meal times so easy. I've started freezing bigger pots (£land have some real bargains) of risotto/couscous etc. In the mornings, I grab a variety of cubes, chuck into nursery bag, job done.
