Hi, my DD is 8 months old and I really want to give her eggs. But I dont know how to give it to her. I've read you should only give the yokes untill between 9-12 months. Ok, I could hard boil the eggs, but she wont eat lumpy food as yet and i'm still really puree'ing her food still.
I'm quite keen to give her eggs as we're bringing her up vegetarian so I think it's impt. she gets this kind of animal protein. Please help if you can x

I gave DD eggs from 6 months, and she's just had them however I've cooked them! Scrambled, boiled, omlette, even fried occassionally.

As long as they are fresh, I wouldn't worry!

She was BLW'd though, so I've no idea about feeding them to a puree weaned baby sorry.

eggs are ok from 6 months as long as the yolk and white is cooked through. Scrambled would maybe be your best bet.

I gave DD eggs from 6 months, I've never heard of only giving the yolks till 9 months so she had the whole thing either scrambled or mashed up in a cup with butter.

I think the thing with egg yolks vs whites is to do with allergies - not sure whether whites are more allergenic perhaps? Anyway, having taken DD for flu jag at 6.5mo I was asked whether she had any problem with egg allergy (vaccine cultivated in egg white) and of course I had no idea, having not yet fed her egg! Luckily all OK so I guess I'm OK to feed her the whole egg now...

Never heard about not giving yolks.... DS has been eating eggs from about 6 months. I either make scrambled egg (which he loves), or boil and egg and cut it up into bits for him to eat (much messier!). You could also maybe try making an omlette with cheese or something in it, and cutting it up into strips. Or a frittata... Ooooh now I'm giving myself ideas for DS!

Thank you all for your messages. I like the idea of an omlette and cutting it up into strips as she's starting to enjoy her finger foods!
Thanks again.

when she progresses onto bigger finger food, you could try egg and mayonnaise sandwiches (mini ones) my dd loves them!

scrambled eggs may be your best bet to start with as they're more like puree and it is quite soft texture.

Eggy bread is quite easy for them to get hold of and put in their mouths. I found omelette a bit floppy..also mini pancakes are good.

Yes, the egg white is more allergenic, but general advice is that you can give whole egg from 6mo onwards (unless you have egg allergy in your family or something).

Our DD never went for scrambled/boiled etc. But she loves omelette, often with cheese, also veg fritters or pancakes (we're veggie too and give her mashed up beans and egg pancakes)

I second the eggy bread - our DD's a big fan. We sometimes spread a bit of smooth peanut butter on to up the protein content even more. (obviously give that a miss if there are nut allergies in your immediate family...although the advice is mixed on whether to offer it to LOs earlyish or not. Our DD is fine with it, think we offered it from 8mo...)

Also, you can give egg pasta as another way of getting egg in if she rejects egg in other forms for a while...
