Kedgeree/Prawns for a 12 month old?

I'm making Kedgeree for my 3.9 year old, he loves it!

It's a really simple one - shallots, prawns, smoked haddock, rice, a little veg stock and boiled eggs - all cooked...can I give it to my 12 month old too?

DH and I are Atopic (hayfever and mild eczema for me, hayfever and reactions to a few raw foods for DH) DS is so far clear.

Safe to try do you think or should I give her something else?

I would give it a go as cooked shellfish is ok from 6 months and the rest should be ok too.

I tried it. She loved the egg yolks and the prawns but not so keen on the rest. Will try again another day.

Thanks for replying

I didn't know babies can have shellfish. I thought only over fives can have shellfish?

I did a google search and found some sites saying over 6 months as long as cooked, over 12 months and over 3 years - It's so confusing!!

Over 5's is higher again!!

My DS has been eating prawns for ages now - probably since he was about 3 - and we've had no reaction. DD doesn't seem to have suffered from last nights prawns either so I think we'll start including them in her diet now.

That's good to know. I might try dd with prawns and see what she thinks.

DD has been having shellfish since 6 months with no problems. I may have been more cautious if there were allergies in the family, but under normal circumstances I don't see why you'd need to wait.

As long as you use common sense (i.e. it's fresh and properly cooked/stored) I think it's fine. Same with rare meat and eggs. Anything really.
