The best high chair around is the Ikea Antilop - cheap, washable and compact. The ones with the posh padded seats get food trapped down them and you can find old mouldy food years later no matter how clean you are. :)

Another vote for the Antilop - incredibly cheap, easy to clean and easy to transport.

babyrose · 15/12/2010 13:21

it does look good, would like to get it just now but with the weather who knows!

TBH it's between the Ikea Antilop and the Stokke Tripp Trapp (which is expensive but lasts until forever, also suitable for adults).

THe antilp has a pretty massive footprint.

caughtintheact · 15/12/2010 13:27

I got the antilop thinking as it's so cheap it would do till I decided which one I really wanted...4 years later it's still going strong for dc2!

happygilmore · 15/12/2010 15:48

We love the antilop too, so easy to clean!

NineLadiesDancingThroughLife · 15/12/2010 15:56

Another Antilop lover here. DD is a bit little, and she can reach to the far edges/corners of the tray to scoop up her food.

Bobby99 · 15/12/2010 16:21

Definitely Antilop.

browneyesblue · 15/12/2010 19:58

Love the Antilop too, but we also use a Bumbo and tray for snacks, or to stick in the boot of the car if we're going somewhere (like our local pub) that has useless high chairs. Wouldn't swap either of them for a fancier/pricier chair.

IsItMeOr · 15/12/2010 20:07

Antilop!

Legs and tray come off easily to go into the car for visiting GPs.

Buy it, try it and if you don't like it buy a more expensive one. Freecycle the Antilop.

If only all baby equipment decisions were as simple as this one :)

SleepWhenImDead · 15/12/2010 20:11

If you're short on space, I would recommend the Handysitt, as you can put it on your present chair - it's fab, stores "flat" and you can travel with it too.

Lovethesea · 21/12/2010 15:27

Ikea antilop again here - worked wonderfully for DD who was slim and kept sliding down in huge squashy chairs restaurants gave us. Now it is working well for DS who is far from slim!

It's not just that it's cheap, it just works so much better than any we have ever tried!

lolalotta · 21/12/2010 20:17

Antilop, LOVE it! Grin

zebedeethezebra · 22/12/2010 11:51

Stokke trip trap (expensive though)

littlehedgehog · 22/12/2010 13:45

Love cosatto 3sixti. Easy to clean and sturdy. Only downside it's very heavy.

Pinkjenny · 22/12/2010 13:47

Antilop! Dd had a Mamas and Papas highchair which was dreadful to keep clean. Ds has the Antilop, and I am a total convert.

I remember buying the M&P one and saying to dh, 'We need one that reclines in case she falls asleep in it.'

Southwestwhippet · 24/12/2010 10:42

Another Antilop fan here. Am so smug about mine Grin

BertieBottlesOfMulledWine · 24/12/2010 10:44

The antilop seems good if you want a standalone one. However I've used a tommee tippee "healthy care" booster seat for DS ever since he was 5 or 6 months old (it has a tray) and he's still using it at 2.2 to help him reach the table. It's portable as well and easy to clean, so as good as the antilop IMO!

isw · 24/12/2010 10:49

Antilop when while small and v messy, then tripp trapp so they can sit up at the table with you.

jandmmum · 26/12/2010 09:50

another vote for the antilop. My very small 5 month DD sits happily in hers and plays with toys what we eat. You will need the inflatable insert for a small or young (not able to sit unaided) child. I borrowed my sister's expensive fisher price one for DS and it was a nightmare to keep clean plus not easy for him to reach off the tray when he was younger. I'm also a bit Hmm at reclining high chairs as I worry that the child might have hidden food in their mouth when you recline them not that I think many would fall asleep in it anyway (although sister's tro both do).

cherrysodalover · 27/12/2010 18:20

The antilop- so easy to clean and so cheap- we got a second hand trip trap but to be honest we use the antilop more.

weasle · 27/12/2010 18:23

Antilop!

mine on dc3 and still great.

TheRedQueen · 27/12/2010 18:37

Have no idea was an Antilop is, but forget the Tripp Trapp. DD (now 5!) still manages to fall/slip off it on a regular basis ....
