Weaning at 6 months+ - some questions

DD2 is coming up to 6 months and will be the first of my 3 not to be weaned early. Just wondering whether I launch straight in with all kinds of food inc carbs, protein, dairy etc or if I should start off with fruit + veg initially? Also, if you weaned at 6 months+ did your babies have any problems with constipation? My other 2 were weaned at 4 months (on the advice of well meaning but prob ill informed HCPs) and had real constipation problems which I wonder - in hindsight - was it down to their bowels/tummies not being ready. Will prob do BLW and some mush/purees this time round.

At 6 months you can give anything except choking hazards (whole nuts, whole grapes etc), salt, sugar and honey. So carbs, protein, dairy are all fine, but if you prefer to start with fruit and veg then by all means do.

I weaned DD at 6 months and we haven't had any constipation problems... I wish! She used to poo every 2 or 3 days, now it's about 3 times a day. Giving water with meals will help avoid constipation

Have fun!

Thanks RJandA, I'll probably get stuck straight in and give her bits of what we're eating!
