What should a 7mo be eating?

My 7 month old DD is on 3 meals per day. We started off BLW but now use a combination of finger foods and spoon feeding, which I feel more comfortable with.

Our routine is roughly this...

waken, breastfeed, nappy change, a huge bowl of porridge which my DD loves, playtime, breastfeed, nap, nappy change, playtime, lunch (roughly12/12.30pm), breastfeed, nap, nappy change, playtime, breastfeed (roughly 4pm), dinner (roughly 5/5.30pm), massage, bath, book, bed.

Usually, lunch and dinner will be either soup, rice cakes, veggie mash/puree, pasta, spag bog or fish etc.

Should I worry about snacks just now?

Should I be more aware of nutrition at the moment? I mean, should I be concerned about balancing carbs, protiens, fat etc. My is allergic to dairy and eggs.

Sorry for so many questions, just looking for a bit of reassurance that what we are doing is healthy and ok.

Thanks in advance Smile

My DD is also 7 mths and we're doing BLW. This is propbably just the blind leading the blind, but I'm offering similar things to you and not doing any snacks yet.

I try to make sure she's offered protein of some sort at most meals (say 2 out of 3 each day) and the rest is a mixture of carbs and fruit and veg. I'm not taking any notice of fat at the moment as it seems to come naturally with the protein IYKWIM. Not sure if this is just a fad but she seems to chose the protein elements over the carbs or veg or fruit every time at the moment!

Don't really know if I'm doing it right either, but she is taking a bit less milk and I got her weighed today and she's doing fine, so I'm not too concerned.

My DS is also 7 months. He's on a similar routine (except no longer breastfed, as I'm back at work). His routine is a bit like this:
Breakfast (around 7.30) - scrambled egg/porridge with mashed banana/toast (depending on time!) + 5oz bottle
Lunch (around 11 - stupid creche routine!) - vegetables and meat/fish, followed by a bit of yogurt if he's at home.
Afternoon (around 3) - fruit with cereal/yogurt/mashed up fruit + 5oz bottle
Bedtime (around 7) - 8oz bottle
Dreamfeed (around 10.30) - 5oz bottle.

I didn't know they could have pasta already. Do you break it up a bit or just use the small pasta shapes? DS is fine with the odd lump, so I guess he'd like pasta... We're kind of stuck on the creche routine, which is lunch early and then afternoon snack of fruit. Since he dropped his bottle in the afternoon I've been contemplating adding a small "tea" at about 5.30, as he seems quite hungry by bedtime and I'd like to drop the dreamfeed soon.

My paediatrician didn't seem to worried about balancing things, but just to ensure that he had a big enough portion before dropping a bottle, so that he's not missing out on things. I don't think you need worry too much about snacks - DS occassionally has a bit of toast or rusk if he shows interest, but nothing more yet... I think what you're doing sounds just fine!

As far as I know pasta is fine. My DD is allergic to eggs so I buy children's pasta which is egg free - it is quite big so I blend it so that it is smaller but still lumpy. You can baby past which is tiny and suitable from 7 months old but I havent used this due to the allergy.

Thanks for your replies. Today I have spent some time making protien based dishes (cod, salmon and steak mince) which I will try and give my DD at least once per day. The salmon was really "fishy" but she ate it all up at lunch. I just mixed it with tomatoes and carrots.

Thanks again.
