Hi am doing a mixture of BLW & spoon feeding. Have made purees of apple, pear, potatoes, carrots etc but how do I introduce foods like chicken? Do I just wait until I am giving more lumpy foods & put it in then or can I puree it? If so how? Confused

put it in a blender/liquidiser with extra liquid (water), if necessary.

You only need tiny amounts of meat in the early days

If you're doing blw, you're giving finger foods, yes? Letting your child self feed?

DD's first ever solids was a roast dinner and she just had roast chicken in fist sized pieces. She loved it.

Hi thanks for replies yes giving finger foods but still very early days (& no teeth!) so hardly any of it actually being eaten at the moment. He cant quite sit up on his own (7 months) but ok in high chair. Ill try just giving him some next time we have a roast! Im a vegetarian but will cook meat for DP & DS Smile

I chewed the food myself & then gave to them.

I realise that not everyone will like that idea, but it is 'normal' in many parts of the world, and worked very well.

Blw babies can have chicken as it is - it may be softer if you cook it in a soup?

The first time I gave DD chicken (she wasn't properly Blw) I cooked it with onion and red lentils, then pureed it. Yum

Mine had what we had (within reason - no hot curries/chilli etc) they loved roast dinners - all pureed up together with a hand blender thingy with gravy to get the right consistency. I thought it was more about getting used to different flavours as much as textures.

Chicken purees really well if mixed with some other foods. I have made chicken casserole (without the usual amount of salt) and just pureed some of it in the food processor. Also poached chicken in milk and blended it with mashed potato and veg. DD loves them both.
