When to start solid snacks?

DS is just coming up to 9 months old and is doing well with a combination of BLW and pureed/mashed foods. Our current routine is something like this:

0630 wake
0730 b'fast
0830 feed to sleep (I know, I know) for 30-45 mins
1030 breastfeed
1230 lunch
1300 feed to sleep (I still know!), nap for 2 hours poss with another quick feed at sleep cycle change over
1600 breast feed (although this doesn't alway happen now)
1730 dinner
1830 bedtime with feed
2200 feed
then can be awake 3 times during the night although we've just started working him on settling without feeding but he also has 2 teeth coming through so nights aren't the best at the moment.

So..... when should I start swapping the morning and afternoon feeds for more solid food snacks?

Thanks

try offering sth before the 10.30am bf to keep him going before lunch or on waking after the pm nap. could also offer snacks any time of day when you're out and about.

Thanks dragonfruit. I tried him with some breadsticks yesterday am which seemed to go down well (or at least were good fun to wave around) and some EBM from a tommee tippee cup which caused some strange faces but he seemed okay with otherwise.

Any top tips on snacks? He's not quite able yet to have things like raisins or small round things eg grapes yet and am starting to run out of ideas!

Giving snacks mid morning and mid afternoon seems like a good idea. Have you thought of giving him water with the snack and a bf after?

You could try him with banana or apple. How come he can't hav grapes or raisins yet?

I was worried about the choking risk with small things - he's not quite got his pincer grip sorted yet and I thought that that was once of the indications before they should have smaller things???

Any other info would be gratefully received though.

grapes are ok as long as you cut them in half, those small ricecakes by Organix are good, sticks/lumps of cheese. Pieces of bread spread with butter/soft cheese, sth like ciabatta/pitta better than sliced as doesn't disintegrate as easily when baby holds it. there are also loads of special baby snacks you can buy without sugar/salt whcih are handy to have around esp if you're out..

I'm sure that I was giving my DCs cut grapes at that age too.

Thanks, didn't think about cutting them in half! Good call on the ciabatta/pizza idea as well.
