Advice needed re dropping dream feed

Hi

DD2 is almost 24 weeks. She has been weaning since 21 weeks and it's going pretty well - she has solids at brunch and suppertime (6pm ish).

She's a big girl, weighing around 16lbs (probably more than that now actually) and has always taken her milk really well.

Now, for the past few days, she's been leaving the last couple of ounces of her breakfast bottle. She then wants her brunch at about 10.30am so I give her most of her 7oz bottle followed by puree. Recently she hasn't wanted to finish this bottle after the solids.

She currently has a dream feed at around 10.15pm and now takes only 4oz at his feed (recently decreased from 5oz). She then sleeps til 6.30am or later.

Anyway, my question is about dropping the dream feed bearing in mind that she is becoming less keen on her breakfast bottle. Obviously she still needs a good milk feed at breakfast time.

She is having around 34oz of milk over the course of the day, including dream.

Actually, sorry, I call this the dream feed but technically it's not! I wake DD to feed her, nappy change then she goes straight back to sleep. Don't think this makes much difference, just wanted to be clear!

i am very interested in any advice you get on this as i am going through the same thing. DD is nearly 21 weeks though and has been having solids for 3 weeks now. Firmly and enthusiastically established on solids for brunch and dinner but is increasingly disinterested in her breakfast bottle.

At the moment she has 5 7-8oz milk feeds a day including a dreamfeed at 11pmish.

We weaned DS at 23 weeks. We waited until he was nearly 7 months before dropping the dream feed. We waited for a day when he'd had lots of milk to drink and just gave it a go. It worked so we carried on.

I think you may be doing it too early at the mo. I would wait a few more weeks until your routine is more settled. Certainly the baby should be on 3 good meals a day before contemplating dropping it.

well for what it is worth we tried limiting her intake at 11pm over the course of a couple of days. Instead of an 8 oz bottle we offered her 5oz and then 4oz, both of which she took and settled back to sleep without complaint.

She was noticeably more interested in her breakfast bottle the next day.

Last night as an experiment we didn't do a dream feed at all. she slept through without a problem and took her whole 8oz breakfast bottle without fussing.

I dropped it as soon as she started solids, but that was at 6 Mo not as early as you guys.

She was absolutely fine even though she was only eating a bit of fruit or veg during the day (but Bf rather than FF, although imagine latter fills them up more.)

Just to update, we have now dropped the dream feed. DD2 is 25 weeks tomorrow and we dropped it two nights ago after decreasing feed gradually oover the last couple of weeks. She's slept 7pm to 7am las two nights!
