Weaning chart - any suggestions?

Hi,

I am looking for a print-out chart to put on the fridge with key 'baby' foods and food groups, their nutritional content (eg high in iron, high in vitamin C etc), plus the age-group they're suitable for. I guess it doesn't really have to be baby-specific.

Can't find one by Googling - any suggestions anyone?

We eat quite well at home, but a bit chaotically, so I do want to check I am feeding the right mixtures of foods.

Thanks!

before 6 months - fruits (not citrus), veg, gluten free cereal

after 6 months - anything you want except for honey (ok after 1 year), whole nuts (choking risk), highly salted foods.

Your HV should have something she can give you. I was given a great one but was a while ago now. I'm afraid my kids are old enough to have been weaned at 4 months.

This any good?

As Seona said, weaning begins at 6 months and they can have anything apart from honey, nuts and highly salted food.

And their needs are different to an adults bear in mind so don't follow an adult chart. They need more fat for example.

Milk should remain the key source of nutrition and then a good mix of healthy stuff on top of this. DD just had what we were having. I cooked plenty of stuff (all from scratch), made sure it had no added salt and away we went.

QOFE - that's a great chart thanks! You must have an enormous fridge!

It's just to combat my not knowing that apricots were high in iron - therefore a very useful baby weaning food.

She's presently 23 weeks, so we're gearing up for the 6 months "gums free".
