Desperate for some advice, if anyone can help it'll be greatly appreciated, i've got a 7mth old and am in need of ideas for non cook purees/foods i can feed on the go (ie: out and about with no access to microwaves/cooking appliances). Thanks Smile

mashed banana comes to mind.
other than that, maybe rusks that you can crumble and mix with milk or water.

if they'll do finger foods, the world is your oyster - breadsticks, home made rusks, crudites (they gum them to death)

Otherwise mashed fruit is a good idea - or those little pouches (Ellas Kitchen etc.)

Thank you both, much appreciated. DS refuses finger foods ATM which is a shame as yeah, i would of been laughing but i do like the sounds of the pouches, hadn't occured to me. Thank you so much! All else fails, yep a banana and yogurt i guess Smile

Microwave a sweet potato before you go out, keep it in some tin foil. When ready to eat cut open and spoon feed to baby directly... Ok if only out for a couple of hours - probably not advisable if longer than that.

Organix rice cakes good for us, but before DS got the hang of those he found the organix carrot sticks (look worryingly like wotsits!) much easier to eat. Can also load these with other things.

R
ipe avocado is a good fallback too.
Cut in half before you go out but keep the 2 halfs together round the stone and wrap in cling film (I find this minimises discolouration)

Tbh, I sometimes use jars when out and about as well in case I'm not having something baby-friendly. They seem to be fairly palatable at room temp and are obviously sterile until opened. I go for the Hipp or Organix ones - naturally occuring organic ingredients and all that.

Resisted using jars at first, but 'broke' and bought one on a particularly hectic day - lo and behold, the sky did not fall in and DS liked it and had lunch. Job done Grin.

we got given a little thermos pot for keeping food warm in. Would that work?

We always have a fruit pot in the change bag as well as DD goes mad for them.

WOW, thank you all so much, loads of help here, lovely jubbly Smile. XxX

Agree pouches are great, just sqeeze onto a spoon you don't keep putting the spoon in like you do with jars so there is no saliva getting mixed in so if they eat a little bit you can keep the rest for another day. DD is now 14 months and still has a pouch now and again as a snack to keep her going between meals, now she just drains it like a smoothy in seconds straight from the pouch.

Both dc's were raised on mashed avocado /banana
or those as finger foods for dd when we were out.

However, now both of them detest avocado, I cannot even hide it in a salad or sandwich.

Those Rachel's organics pouches were great for the odd time that I had nothing in.
