weaning-changes in poo?

My 5mth old DD has been exclusively BF, was advised to wean her by HV (wont go into details) she is on purees 1-2 times daily and only fruit, veg and a small amount of baby rice, she is still BF frequently day and night.
I have noticed that her poo has become thicker (like paste) and she is moving her bowels more frequently (3-4times daily compared with once daily before).
Is this normal and what other changes can I expect to see as her diet becomes more varied?

Well, they'll become more like adult's poo.
You'll also see some interesting ones as baby's digestive system isn't fully mature yet.

it starts smelling a lot more

breastfed poo smells a bit like hay I think, once you start solids it smells more like poo...

We had all sorts of poo variety when weaning started. colour, texture, smell - never know what you're going to get when you unfold that nappy, ah the joys!!

Also would have between 0 - 5/6 poos a day! Has settled down now. Generally get 2 poos a day, with an occassional extra one late in the day depending on what he's eaten. However he has a bug at the mo, no reduction in appetite, but managed 12 nappies yesterday Shock. And they smelled like chemical warfare.

poo generally comes out the colour of whatever food you put in to start with I think! It will firm up and start to look more like poo as we know it (and unfortunately smell more like poo!). 3-4 times a day is perfectly normal too........DD1 did this many a day right up until she was approx 2.3 I think. Some poo more than others but as long as it's not diarrhoea (sp??) and isn't causing discomfort then it's fine.
