Puddings

A quick one really - do you give your DC a pudding after lunch or dinner? I don't and feel I'm depriving him from reading the various books. Main reason I don't is because I don't eat pudding myself.

DS has the odd bit of fruit now and then and fruit for breakfast...

I don't because we don't really do puddings, at least not during the week. Fruit and yoghurt are the only things I'd have. At the weekend at PILS we might give DS some cake or ice cream or similar.

I always give either yogurt or fruit. - sometimes on the weekend I might bake biscuits or cakes, so I'd give them as pud rather than a snack. yogurt is handy if you're concerned about calcium intake as not many babies seem to dislike it, whether you go for little fromage fraise pots or natural yog with stewed fruit in it, but if he seems satisfied with what you're giving him, I wouldn't worry. I find it handy to give them a pot of yog/FF as it usually enables me to finish my own meal

Yes - but mostly because we have it. We don't do it every day - sometimes it is fruit, sometimes yoghurt, sometimes ice cream, sometimes nothing. Occasionally it is a "stodgy" pudding, such as pecan pie or cake (but I don't make them that often so not very common).

When DS was weaning, stewed fruits/fruit purées and yoghurts were part of his daily meals but not always afterwards - I found that he would eat alternately from the sweet and the savoury dishes.

I don't think your DS is necessarily missing out - if you were having it yourself and denying him, that would be different - but if it's not "normal" in your household, then stick with it. (you might want to give him something else with the fruit for breakfast, if all he's having is fruit - sorry if I've misunderstood that situation but maybe mix it with yoghurt to increase the protein content and the satiety)

thumbwitch no he has fruit mixed in his cereal or he wont eat it

Alas I can't give DS dairy as he's intolerant which rules out a lot of desserts anyway.

I remember that - DS wouldn't eat his baby porridge unless it had fruit purée in it. And even with it in it was sometimes a struggle!
