I'm doing a combo of BLW and spoon feeding with my 6.5 month DS. However, I'm unsure how much I should be offering him solids-wise.

I'm quite chilled about how much he has, as he's a good weight, and he makes it very obvious if he's not interested. But I want to try and get roughly the right amount of food ready, as it saves wasting too much, or scrabbling around half way through lunch to find more. We're away camping this weekend so I need to work out what to take. I also don't want to stuff him full, as I'd rather he had more milk still (he usually has a 'boob sandwich', with one side before and one after his solids).

Most meals he'll have a few bits of finger food - and eat about 5% of it - and then a small bowl of something mushed with a fork (generally whatever we had for dinner the night before, or cereal/fruit for brekkie). I'll also give him a bit of yoghurt/fruit at most meals. If we're out and about and he's having a pouch, I'll give him about half.

What sort of size bowls/amount of food do other people offer?

They all eat differently. But it does feel like it is constantly feeding time at the zoo at this stage. I just used to give her what she wanted at this age and let her tell me she had enough (she is very lean at 2yo).

I used to give (and it was hit and miss what was eaten on any given day);

BEFORE BREAKIE UPON WAKING
BF MILK

BREAKFAST
1/2 a banana or some melon, etc
1 small bowl of porridge / rice in small bowl
Slice of toast with crusts off
BF Milk

Morning tea: BF MILK

LUNCH
Whatever i had on my plate....salad stuff, chicken drumstick, pitta, etc she just slabbered and chewed these
Natural yoghurt
Baby rice mixed with puree (small pot)
BF Milk

Afternoon tea: BF Milk or formual feed (usually formula)

DINNER
Whatever we have in a small bowl
Some baby rice with apple puree or cinnamon for a pudding In little pot
BF Milk

Bed then midnight snack
BF MILK

PS My guzzling DD used to suck the contents of a pouch dry within 2-3minutes at 7mths.

Also, if you take baby rice and some pouches (savoury and sweet) it would not take up much space or weight and you could offer what you are eating as finger food.

Have fun!

Thanks - it is confusing trying to get the hang of this! Not quite sure why I thought camping with a 6mo was a good idea!
