Best places to book?

Hi all, can anyone recommend the best places to book our potential honeymoon please?

its for me, DP and DSS who will be 6. We’re looking to fly to New York and do 3 days there, and then do 7 days in Florida (a couple at Disney, a day at Universal, a couple chilling) - where’s the best place to book something like this or am I best doing it all separately?

Thanks so much!

It’s many years since I’ve been so my suggestions would be out of date but have you looked at The Dibb? I found it an invaluable source of information before I went.

We did this exact holiday three months ago! Congratulations and that sounds like a fab idea for a honeymoon.

New York - Places to book - the summit at Vanderbilt is amazing and is brilliant for photos. We went to see the Harry Potter play on Broadway and it was amazing. The area around Dumbo is lovely. Magnolia Bakery does this amazing banana pudding that I think about all the time (and have tried to recreate and failed) We stayed at the Civilian hotel just off Times square which was one of the cheaper options but felt like a nice boutique hotel.

Florida - I'd recommend splitting your hotels in two. There is more to do at Disney than Universal ( if you had a week in total I'd maybe spend two days at Universal and four at Disney doing each of the main parks) Book a few days with Disney in a value hotel (we stayed at all star sports). It's really worth it to stay on site as you get early entry to the park, and the value hotels are nice enough and you really do only crash out there! . It's worth budgeting for genie plus to allow you to book lightning lanes to skip the queue. Disney is amazing and your DSS sounds the perfect age. Make sure you see the fireworks show at Magic Kingdom as it is truly magical. One of the things we loved most was Animators palette at Animal Kingdom which is a live drawing class where a Disney animator teaches you to draw the characters. The rides at Hollywood studios including Star Wars land are AMAZING - it's definitely the best park for rides. Get a reservation at Oga's cantina for some amazing, fun drinks in a totally immersive environment. Make sure you go to all of the shows in addition to the rides - in my opinion this is where Disney excels and where the true magic of it all is found.

Disney Springs is a great place to spend an evening and the cirque du solely show there (Drawn to life) is mind-blowingly good.

Universal is brilliant - again stay on site if you can (I'd recommend Endless Summer Surfside) for the early entry. The Harry Potter components are so immersive. Your DSS is a good age for the wand experiences but make sure you go early afternoon as it can be very busy. Our Nephew was picked out as the featured child for the wand experience and honestly it was a core memory for both him and us. Don't miss the Bourne Stunt show or the Horror Make up Show - both are amazing.

Have a great honeymoon and sorry for the long post!

Oh @Gbeanf you are wonderful thank you so so much! So many things in there that I’d never have considered at all!

I hadn’t considered splitting accommodation in Florida but that does make sense! Are the hotels good for having some chill time as well? DSS needs his quiet time bless him especially as he’ll be so absorbed all day in the parks (he is SO excited already) so somewhere where he can also chill would be fantastic as well.

There’s a nice estate we stayed at in Davenport and it’s only about 15mins drive to Disney!! It’s called sandy ridge comes with a pool and air conditioner it was so nice!!

That's a great tip from @YourLocal about the Sandy Ridge estate - having a pool and AC for downtime does sound perfect when traveling with little ones. @Woahtherehoney Hope you're able to find somewhere with a nice balance of park excitement and R&R for your DSS. Your trip is sounding like an amazing honeymoon - you'll all have so much fun making memories at Disney and Universal!

The Disney resorts would give your DSS space to recharge between park days - most have pools, and some have little play areas too. Copper Creek at Wilderness Lodge looks beautiful, and Pop Century is a value resort. Even the cheapest ones have restrooms/wifi to decompress.
