If fireworks are late - around 8pm - but parks close around 6pm, how on earth do you watch them? I am so confused

Which park are you looking at?
We go in December and magic kingdom closes most night at6 pm for Mickeys very merry Christmas party ( ticketed event) this means you can’t see the fireworks unless you are going to MVMCP.
weve picked a night when the park doesn’t close early.

I think maybe I am confused. Going at Easter. Maybe the parks stay open later

Fireworks are at the end of the park say. So if it closes at 8pm, the fireworks are at 8pm. Things will be open late at Easter as it's the busiest period. Get the WDW app and it'll tell you each day when the shows are on and what the opening hours are etc.

Not all parks have fireworks and they’re not always every day of the week.

Also I’ve never been there when a park closes as early as 6pm. Animal Kingdom closes first, and often it’s about 7pm and the typical hours for Magic Kingdom are 9am to 10/11pm on regular days, unless there’s a ticketed event or After Hours, in which case it closes earlier.
The published closing time is the when guests will stop being allowed to line up for rides. In most cases, you will be able to get in line for a ride right up until closing time. Some shops will stay open and anyone still in the queue for a ride will get to ride and then leave. The stores at the front of the park will be open latest. The nighttime show usually begins or ends right around park close.

For your planning, in my experience the hours have typically been getting published about 2-3 months beforehand. Because they post them in batches, it can vary. Also, they very often get changed nearer the time. Initially they will be fairly conservative with the amount of time the parks are open. However, park hour updates are based on demand. The busier the parks are projected to be, the higher the likelihood that Disney will extend the hours. I’ve seen it happen a lot where in the final weeks or days they extend the hours by either opening up earlier or staying open later (or both).
