We’re off to DW at easter for 10d.
Staying at all-stars music hotel and have a 14d park pass.

I don’t think dining booking opens until 60d currently and my plan is:

Days 1-3 magic kingdom
Days 4&5 Hollywood studios
Day 6 Epcot
Day 7 animal kingdom
Day 8 MK/rest day
Day 9 Hollywood studios/rest day
Day 10 MK

Anyone have any tips or ideas if the above doesn’t sound right? Must sees?

How does genie+ work?

Is there a supermarket close by the hotel to stock up on snacks etc to take to the park? Will be travelling with an 8 &5 yr old. Thanks

I'd like to know too x

Notnastypasty · 23/01/2022 13:03

Have a look on a website called the Dibb, lots of useful info on there. Also a Facebook group called it’s Orlando time.

Not sure on genie plus as haven’t been for 2 years and that’s new. We got a taxi from Disney to a Walmart close by and got snacks etc. Your hotel will also have a shop onsite but will be more expensive.

Easter is very busy in the parks and Hollywood studios always seems rammed. Definitely worth looking into genie plus and pre booking or paying for lightning lane if you can on some rides.

Notnastypasty · 23/01/2022 13:04

Also why not visit typhoon lagoon or blizzard beach too? Pretty sure your tickets include the water parks. Also take some time to look around Disney springs.

underneaththeash · 23/01/2022 13:15

Yes, it's 60 days before.

That's far too many consecutive days at MK, you'll be bored. Different parks tend to be busy on different days, so I'd plan around the quieter days.

I think you'll need a couple of days away from the parks and definitely do a water park - they're lots of fun and the water is nice a warm.

The most important thing to do is to get there as the park opens - which as you're staying on site, is 30 minutes before it opens to everyone else. Then do the rides with the longest queues first - at MK - that will be seven dwarves mine train. Which is about the same intensity of coaster as The Dragon at Legoland.
You and your DH might want to split up and do different rides with the 5 and 8 year old.

Definitely join the Dibb, it will be really useful if you haven't been before.

Quartz2208 · 23/01/2022 13:23

Yes go to thedibb its great

And have you set it all up on mydisneyexperience and gotten the App.

Also we never go to the same park on consecutive days at all - 3 days in a row at MK may break you!

You will need to park pass - have you done that yet. I would say more Epcot and Animal Kingdom.

We tend to hit a park for early opening hours then go back to the hotel for an afternoon rest before hitting another in the evening. So you could Magic Kingdom the mornings, rest for lunch time swim at the hotel then back out to Epcot in the evening

Take snacks with you - we load up a small suitcase then that has the space for souvenirs on the way back.

See if the refillable mug option at the hotel is open - one or two mugs and drinks at the resort are included

Think about a stroller - it is ALOT and we hired one from Kingdom Strollers until DS turned 7 (so he had it when he was 5 and 6). They deliver to and from your hotel and helps with storage.

Genie+ stacks up rides on the app like old fastpasses. We didnt use it - didnt need to could manage what we wanted at Christmas

What are they in to in terms of Disney Characters etc?

The difference is park busyness has gone I think since the resort hours were for all parks and park pass came into effect. Easter will be at the new capacity I suspect as well

anotherBadAvatar · 23/01/2022 13:29

Thanks for info so far. Youngest v much into Disney princesses, older one is star wars all the way. Youngest terrified of water, so wasn’t sure about the water parks.
Will look to break up the days a bit more!

Then Galaxy's Edge is a must for your older one.

Younger one I suspect will like character dining which is returning (although expensive)

EmmaStone · 23/01/2022 14:06

What struck me is only one day at EPCOT, which is HUGE, it's really 2 parks in one, you could do Tomorrowland etc in 1 day and World a showcase on another.

But I've not been since Star Wars opened. And I've been to DW more times than I can count (grew up in Florida), so we never stay in Orlando for very long, and we've never done any park more than once in one visit I don't think, so I'm not best placed!!

Larryyourwaiter · 23/01/2022 14:45

I always do first and last day at Magic Kingdom. I wouldn’t do consecutive days personally.
Epcot is easily 2 days, one for the lower part and one for the countries at least.
I’m not a huge fan of Disney Springs but it is worth going at least once for a wander/shop.

anotherBadAvatar · 23/01/2022 14:45

So maybe

Days 1/2 MK
Rest day 3
Days 4-5 Hollywood studios
Rest day 6
Days 7/8 Epcot
Day 9 rest day or waterpark
Day 10 MK

OP posts:
Quartz2208 · 23/01/2022 16:34

I would do MK, HK, Epcot rather than overloading - they are different. Also AK is worth a day. I would avoid consecutive days as well.

Disney SPrings is good as well

Book in for all the days you are there - if you decide not to go to a park its not a big deal

greyinganddecaying · 23/01/2022 16:43

I much preferred AK over the other parks, tbh MK felt more "tired" than the others, so I'd spend more time there.

The water parks are good, even for little ones (just stay away from the big waves).

BreasticlesNotTesticles · 23/01/2022 18:28

My tip is do the princess dining in Epcot - cheaper and also quicker to see Anna and Else close by in meet and greet.

Think of each day as three sessions and I'd spend two of those max in the parks - it's full on. And hot!

DappledOliveGroves · 23/01/2022 18:41

I'd definitely do a day at Animal Kingdom.

Realmayowitheggs · 23/01/2022 19:15

I wouldn’t do a rest day at all. I’d do a half day in the park. I’d spend the morning in the villa or by the hotel pool and then into a park after lunch for the rest of the day and to closing time/end of day show or the other way round, half day morning in the park and then back for a chilled afternoon and evening.

You don’t need whole rest days.

BaconAndAvocado · 23/01/2022 19:31

We always get to the parks when they open, when you arrive your bodies will be on UK time so you'll automatically wake up early - make the most of it.

Def spend the mornings in the parks then relax around the pool in the afternoon. You can go out again in the evening for the fireworks etc.

Water parks.....Blizzard Beach has a lovely, er, beach where the water very gradually gets deeper.
Thoroughly recommend for a more relaxing day.

You'll have a ball and will want to go back.
We're going on our third trip of a lifetime in August 😀

Quartz2208 · 23/01/2022 19:55

That is how we do - early rising get the park bit done maybe lunch or not. Pool/rest in the afternoon before evening out in a park avoids the hot part of the day and allows for rest and naps and we tend to cycle MK, HS, Epcot AK starting at each then again. At Christmas we did 2 MK days, 3 HS, 3 Epcot and 2 AK plus lots of evenings at Epcot and HS

HermioneWeasley · 23/01/2022 20:53

Check out a busy day guide for the days you’re there and plan your park visits around those plus whichever days you get extra magic hours on.

I’d plan some half days in th parks and time at the pool or a water park.

You need to think about restaurant reservations as well - Disney food blog on YouTube is great for planning this.

I’d take a taxi to some of the outlet malls, and get out of Disney for some meals - a big pancake breakfast at Denny’s/Perkins/Crackerbarrel/IHOP is a must!

AlphaAlpha · 24/01/2022 22:04

Definitely hire a stroller for your 5 yr old! We used kingdom strollers too, they deliver and collect from wherever you're staying. We hired a baby jogger city mini GT (which is what mine had when smaller) you won't regret the massive hood and basket.
Also second the princess dinner at Epcot, they come around to every table so plenty of photo opportunities.

If you can do a splurge I can highly recommend dinner at the California grill on top of the contemporary resort. Floor to ceiling windows and an outside terrace to watch the MK firework show, and they also play the music to go with it.
It wasn't cheap, around $125 pp but that was with drinks too, and it really was worth seeing the full range of those beautiful fireworks!
