No help but following with interest as I'm considering the same purchase.

With some two player games you can slide the controllers out and use one each but they're quite small and fiddly, it's better to have a second set of controllers.

Also once you have the Switch set up you can look at the store on there and buy games, there are always offers on and you can get some great deals. A lot of the main titles are around £50 but will always pop up in the offers, sometimes more than 50% off.

It's worth looking at the cheaper games too, I've played some great ones that were under a fiver.

How old is your son? My sons generally use pro controllers plugged in to the Switch, they only use the little ones if there’s lots of them playing. But they are teenagers.

Same here, we have 2 wireless pro controllers.

You can do two player by using one joy-con each, but they are quite small and fiddly to use that way. You would normally have one in each hand, but you can have one each and turn it on its side, using it two handed.

It's OK if you don't do two player often, but if it's a regular thing then it's worth getting another controller/ set of joy-cons.

It's about £40 for a spare set of joy cons, but you can pick up a controller on amazon for about £20-25.

I'm not entirely sure...it's been a while since my now adult kids have played with their switch.

I do know that CEX sell loads of switch related extras like additional controllers, cases, games etc for quite reasonable prices...they're used, and so mostly come without packaging, but do come with a guarantee. You might get 'more for your money' that way if you do want to get extras. Smile

Agree it depends on age, if under 8 or heavy handed your better off getting the cases for them. The actual console comes with a pair and some multi player games only need 1 but others need the pair. I would 100% make sure wrists straps are used especially at first. I would also buy a decent screen saver and if they want to use it as a tablet a carrycase ,all are cheap but worrg getting. We don't do the live games as my kids have xboxs and ps5. Also CEX as recommended by previous poster do some fantastic games if their unsure on what it is they want. Enjoy
