Hi everyone - I’ve got the bug after helping my daughter with this game. How do you get more fruit trees? I’ve looked at forums online where people swap and got a bit overwhelmed! Keep travelling to the mystery islands but it’s always pears. So far just have pears and coconuts with hopefully some peaches growing which she got from a friend. We did get tarantula island earlier though!

You’ll get a native fruit (pears, in your case), a “sister” fruit (could be any of the others) and coconuts without interacting with others. Otherwise people can visit each other and drop off new fruits which can then be planted, or they can be sent in the mail to friends via the airport. :)

@Bucks2015 Hi and welcome! You get fruit from others. Mostly the islands you visit will have your native fruit but sometimes you'll see your 'secondary' fruit, but that's it, so you won't get all the fruit that way. You can either visit others and get fruit from their islands and take it back to plant at home, or visitors can bring you some. I have some to spare if you want to give me a dodo code so I can bring it.

@Emmelina thanks - we discovered yesterday you could send things in the mail as her friend sent her a note. They’re only small and it’s been lovely for
them to interact with schools closed

So, the game is actually my daughters but obviously I became completely obsessed!
On initial set up, I set it so no online play could happen (I didn't play at that point) but now I would like to play online.
I've done a lot of the work on her island and feel we've reached a bit of a peak and without online play, there isn't really much more to do.

Do I just turn off the parental controls to access online play?

I have just tried the tarantula island trick and followed the instructions but all that seems to be spawning are absolutely tonnes of snowflakes and there’s a pond in the middle of the mystery island with loads of fish in it. Any ideas please? Have I missed something?

I got ti bamboo island (all one level) and picked flowers/chopped trees/hot rocks etc. Took forever and still no tarantulas!

I’ve just had about 6 damselflies in a row but nothing else.. I want tarantulas!!

I've cleared many islands and never got tarantulas to spawn.

I've caught two on my own island now. One for the museum and one as a pet.

@toppocket thank you, I’ve just managed to get three tiger beetles and some more damselflies but still no sign of the elusive tarantulas

Unfortunately Nintendo dialled down the spawn rate of tarantulas last year, so it’s much harder to farm them!
There is a specific mystery island for tarantulas, but it’s very rare!

I'm going to go through and add a few people as friends later if that's OK?
I'm having my first dabble on the stalk market this week. Very excited .

I've been transferring things I had on my DS island and bringing them over to my new one. I've been naughty and pinched all the black and purple flowers he accidentally made. . He asked me to leave him all my stuff for him, no chance!!

Does anyone want some flowers I'm clearing part of my island. I can bring fruit too as I've got all of them.

Could I please come and visit someone to do some diving/bug hunting please? I'm really just nosy and love getting ideas!

Helena I would love some flowers and fruit! What do I need to do? Is there anything you'd like? I can offer some ice-themed interiors or craft you a gong??

Can anyone tell me who this harv character is whose wandering around the island? Ds went to his island and just found an odd house now hes just hanging round!!

You can use his house to take photos - during wedding season you get rewards for doing this

Can anyone help me? My son has had this game since Christmas and I've been trying to help him as much as I can but he's a bit down about having no friends to visit or have visit him. Does anyone want to be his friend?

How old is he? I personally wont have any children on my friendslist (am a teacher) and my child can only visit islands with me controlling- you genuinely dont know who you're visiting. Id like to think we're all friendly on mumsnet but with internet safety hat on I'd not encourage a child visiting people they can talk to personally.

My eldest has friends on just dance etc but these are school friensa.

Having said that if you use a dodo code (one off) and you are with him it would be a good way to enjoy visiting/fruits etc without the concern about linking as friends.
