My 13 year old has clicked accidentally on buying coins or what ever on the os4 game fortnite. His PS4 is unbeknown to me linked to my Paypal. Any idea if I can claim this back. He was literally scrolling though and pressed the a button instead of b it didn’t give any do u want to confirm or redirect to Paypal it was done by that one press of a button
Paypal can’t help any ideas I really can’t afford to lose £80 certainly not this month as we are struggling as it is due to car problems

I have no idea but I would want my paypal unlinking immediately and I would be changing the password and keeping it a secret from everyone but myself.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 31/01/2018 12:55

Agree you need set a password and make it so purchases require this to be entered.

My ds has a ps4 and fortnight so i know you can definitley set it up like that.

Has he spent any of the coins he bought?

taskmaster · 31/01/2018 12:56

Accidentally? Sure Hmm
And who linked the ps2 to paypal in the first place?

LIZS · 31/01/2018 12:57

How did it take you a fortnight to notice, presumably this was more than one occasion? Once might be an accident, several times not.

LIZS · 31/01/2018 12:58

Oh I see that is the name of the game Blush

Alfiemoon1 · 31/01/2018 12:59

Liz I noticed straight away the game is called fortnite

I have unlinked it and yes it was an accident he was looking and pressed the wrong button it only took one press of a button I was walking past when it happened

My brother did this but with a different game. Afraid they couldn't get the money back but make you sure change the password

Alfiemoon1 · 31/01/2018 13:03

It didn’t ask for my Paypal password or to log into Paypal it stayed on the same page on the game and I got an email saying I had just paid £80

Ps4 plus requires a linked payment method but you can password protect it

GlitterRollerSkate · 31/01/2018 13:04

Can you ring Sony? My friend's son did pretty much the same on Xbox live and Microsoft did refund it. It is at their discretion though but is worth a try.

Alfiemoon1 · 31/01/2018 13:10

I have rung Sony they said no and suggested the game publisher as the money goes to them. So will try and email them but not holding out much hope

My son did the same with a skin from the item shop (so only a few pounds) not V bucks but bought by accident when he pressed the wrong button. There was no "confirm" option it just immediately purchased the item. I was there and it was definitely the case. He contacted Fortnite support and they gave him the instructions for a refund and removed the skin from his account. All sorted very quickly and easily. I think there is a limit to how many times they will allow you to do this though (possibly 3). Good luck. I hope you also get a refund!

christianmumof4 · 30/12/2018 11:40

If you have PayPal saved as your default payment method, the [Billing Information] section of PlayStation Store will not contain any payment details because you cannot pay with PayPal on PlayStation Store. You can only pay using existing wallet credit or top up using a credit/debit card or voucher code.

www.playstation.com/en-gb/get-help/help-library/store---transactions/payments---refunds/how-to-use-paypal-to-top-up-your-wallet/

Big fat hairy bollocks. You can't buy things on PS4 using paypal, you can only put credit in your virtual 'wallet'.
