Pokeball cake worked well!

You know how when you battle a gym you automatically get selected which six Pokemon to use.....? How accurate is the system at identifying which Pokemon to use? Because I know it's more than just your highest CP and HP because some types are better against other types.

I went to battle a funny dinosaur thing earlier and it recommended a Flareon which is only about my 9th best Pokemon so I was a bit surprised. But went with it and defeated it quite easily.

MuddlingMackem · 05/03/2017 18:33

Ah, Tynemouth, PickAChew. Other than combining it with the Snowdog trail, the only pokemonning I've done at Tynemouth is sitting on a bus as I'm passing through. Grin

FreeNiki · 05/03/2017 18:58

It was a vaporean on my blissey..

IhatchedaSnorlax · 05/03/2017 19:03

Thanks Niki - will try that next time.

GalenJustGalen · 05/03/2017 19:54

I've wondered that, too, Possum. If it's something I've never battled before and I have no idea what works best, I'll just go with whatever the game has already picked out for me, with mixed results. There's definitely some logic to it, though, because it often picks the same critter more than once if I have multiples with high enough CP.

I got a Porygon upgrade (I've only gotten three special items so far: two sun stones and the upgrade thingee) but don't have enough candy yet. As soon as Pineco finds the next candy, I'm switching my buddy to Porygon.

CantstandmLMs · 05/03/2017 20:01

I think sometimes there is logic but there was an instance it should of picked electric types and didn't so I self selected them. It's annoying.

Great to see the cake pictures! Ours was fun to make. I just got lots of coloured icing from Tesco and then 5 of us spent the evening crafting the different Pokémon. The cake went down very well at the party today.

loc · 05/03/2017 20:42

Love the cakes! Well done talented bakers.
I just wanted to tell you all how much I love my Pokemon go plus! I went to a very swish restaurant for romantic dinner with DH. It was within reach of pokestop. All night I was able to surreptitiously play, stocking up on items and catching random mons. Ah, who said romance was dead? 😂

BumWad · 05/03/2017 21:04

So jealous of you all with multiple special items. I have only had 1 metal coat. Got enough candies to evolve a Slowking, Porygon2, Bellossom, Sunkern, Scyther Seadra, it's all very frustrating!

FreeNiki · 05/03/2017 21:38

Ive never seen a sunkern.

I got another sunstone today though.

Dillite2 · 05/03/2017 22:26

I got a crown! All it took was to hit just under 150 pokestops today (yes, I counted).

Porygon · 06/03/2017 00:37

Love the cake with the hidden pokemon!!

Loving my Pokemon Go Plus too- no longer feel like I've constantly got my phone in hand. Especially now i've figured out how to set it so it only buzzes for pokestops, not pokemon- it was wasting my balls.

(And Ive found I hit all the poke stops while I'm driving now too!)

You know how when you battle a gym you automatically get selected which six Pokemon to use.....? How accurate is the system at identifying which Pokemon to use?

I don't think it's that accurate but I use it anyway unless I'm having a problem. By the time I've worked out the optimum pokemon I might as well spend the time blasting through the pokemon in the gym. I think if you are a real expert and know all your Pokémons strength and weaknesses. It's a bit too complicated. My adult DC can do it quickly but they were raised on Pokémon so I think it's inbuilt.

I think my blasting through technique works better because I'm a high level so have a few strong Pokémon with over 3000 CP which can kill most things even if they aren't always a perfect match. I've two 3000+ rhyhorns and 3 3000 gyrodos and a 3000+ Dragonite. - all reasonable stats.

Dillite2 · 06/03/2017 08:12

I just read that there will be legendary pomemon later this year

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 06/03/2017 08:31

Cool! Where did you read that?

I have only ever seen sunkerns in two locations - both of them large parks. One was absolutely heaving with them. The other was more wooded and I saw two in total and caught one. So yeah, look for large areas of parkland.

Another two parks we've been to since gen2 came out had none though. I have neve seen any in my town.

Dillite2 · 06/03/2017 10:23

It was on Go Nintendo. It also looks like they might do something about spoofing although there are no guarantees.

EatingMyWords · 06/03/2017 10:41

I got 2 upgrades in a few days after only having my first item with my first 7 day streak pokestop! Luckily I have enough candy to evolve 2 porygons Grin

If anyone fancies trying the pokeball cake, I copied Red Ted arts- she put a video and step by step instructions on her blog.

Natsku · 06/03/2017 10:54

The cakes look lush!

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 06/03/2017 17:38

Are there any relatively common Pokémon that you just never seem to find?

For us it's Duduos and Sandshrews. Both came out of eggs fairly early on, and we've not seen hide or hair since! Today we caught our second ever Mankey.

Has anyone used a Nanab berry yet? We use Pinabs quite a lot, but have never had occasion for Nanab yet.

spiderlight · 06/03/2017 17:57

Looks like they've upped the spawn rate of the party hat Pikachus for the tail end of the event. After wading all over a soaking muddy park yesterday without a sniff of one, we've just had two in the house within half an hour of each other (just as well because dopey DS accidentally transferred his first one!)

Dillite2 · 06/03/2017 18:24

I use all berries with no particular intention. It just seems to be whatever I happen to tap on, I chuck it an a mon.

Today I caught an angry blown up fish pokemon. Bwofish or something like that.

Dillite2 · 06/03/2017 18:27

This is it

Pokemon Go #7. Is it Take A Chansey On Me or Hitmonlee With Your Rhythm Stick? You decide.
PickAChew · 06/03/2017 20:59

I often end up chucking loads of berries away because they take too long to use.

I try to use up excess pinapberries at home though. I find the nanabberries a bit rubbish. They don't always work.

TinfoilHattie · 06/03/2017 21:08

Agree that there have been a lot more partychus today for the end of event. WOnder what will be next? St Patrick's Day event with green pokemon? Or Easter?
