Sims 3 PS3 - can you make it just offline?

DD really wants Sims and 3 seems to be better received than 4 and i'm wavering as she is only 10 and its a 12 rating...I have read up and I think i'm OK with the content but I want to make sure she doesn't get involved in any adults online versions iyswim - is it easy to set the settings to offline on the PS3 version?

I always played sims 3 on the PS3 offline and it is easy to set up to make sure it stays offline, but there's a major issue with the game which I don't think has been resolved, when you try to save the game so far in it crashes (just gets stuck on the 'save game' screen) and that makes it unplayable. There has been quite a few posts about it online but I don't think that it has been fixed yet. Its a shame really because otherwise its a good game.

Can you not get her a PC version?

The 12 rating is because the sims have sex (under bed covers, you don't see anything) and they are naked e.g. when showering (blurred/pixelated out) and because of violence - they can fight with other sims, again, not in the slightest bit graphic.

Admittedly I'm not familiar with the online options on a console but it's a totally harmless game IMO. I let my 6 year old play it. I can't think what you could do online with it? In the computer version, online is only for downloading new items (which, yes, you can get mods which add adult features, but only for the computer, and sites are quite good IME at saying "This site contains adult content for age 18+ only".)

Thanks Bertie - that's my opinion of the game too, I just don't want any online chatting with strangers as we've already had it with minecraft servers and I don't think dd is savvy enough not to give out too much info or get drawn into chat...the joy of modern parenting!

Yes of course - total minefield! I didn't know that you could chat online on sims, I must admit. Well good luck working it out! Have you checked on Common Sense Media? They often have reviews of things in the perspective of parents looking to keep DC safe online.

Just wanted to pop my head around the corner to say: Yes, Sims 3 DO NOT BUY THE SIMS 4.

((Continues banging my head against a brick wall and being cross at EA/Origin))
