Sims 4 - Chat thread

Hey all, I know we have a sims three thread but seeing as some of us have made the jump to sims 4 and either loving or hating it, thought we could have a new thread? Hope that's okay!

I still haven't had a proper chance to play but planning on giving it a good few hours tomorrow when the kids are at school.

I have to say, I'm a little in love with frogs and collectibles. My first sim is a collector, can't wait to get her started. Loving how the sims are prettier looking, haven't felt the urge to put cc in the game at all!

sports career, not spots Grin that doesn't sound very nice

NatJon · 06/11/2014 21:35

Ahhh, and Fennel is very pretty not petty Hmm. stupid typos.

FurryDogMother · 06/11/2014 23:10

I have emerged from the game for 5 mins to tell you I'm really glad I bought it! So Far Sorrel Salsify (my Sim) is progressing well in her culinary career, and has had a couple of nights out - one to a bar which was full of hirsute men, and the other to a 'lounge' where people booed at her for telling jokes. She's painted several paintings of dubious quality, most of which seem to be of llamas. She dug up a 'happy' ornament which cheered her up, and a fire crystal too. She seems to fart a lot!

Haven't tried building anything yet - that's a job for tomorrow - I'm going back in now!

Celestria · 07/11/2014 09:01

I knew that would be the case Furry :) I dont know exactly why I enjoy it more than the sims 3. I just do. Less is more sometimes maybe? I love the name of your sim haha!

Nat, great pictures, I like the one of her dd sat on the couch, the background of the house looks great! I noticed in pregnancy my sims breasts seemed HUGE, but didnt notice a change with breastfeeding. I do love how realistic the game feels. It was so easy in the sims 3 to go find a bunch of rocks and have loads of simoleons or raid a bin etc. The money situation seems a lot more realistic. Though admittedly I havent tried wandering about digging stuff up to sell in real life :D

Screenshots! First one is self explanatory, Fennel had her heart set on poor old commitment phob, Don Lothario.

Love the second one. Thats Don's face when she shares the big news of her first pregnancy. Which took about ten attempts!

And the last one is of Fennel refusing to marry Don! So much for him being the commitment phob! I was very amused, considering she actually has the whim to get married to him as well.

At the moment Fennel actually has two children and one adopted child. She has Star-Anaise Spice, Cinnamon Spice (adopted) and Pepper Spice. All girls. No sign of a boy. Star-Anaise is now a teen.

Finally downloaded it. I've made myself, with family ambition, and now looking for a DH-alike to have babies with. Harder work than I thought. One evil bloke started screaming at me in the street. Had a flirt with the slutty one but couldn't go through with it, his face is too annoying. Met a PERFECT lookalike working in the bar, but only after hours of chatting did I find out he was married. Got pretty far with a slightly annoying hipster to find the same thing. Eventually met a tolerable guy in the park playing chess. We've had sex once and tried for a baby twice. It just seems I'm always at work so there's no time for anything.

Hmmm I am umming and ahhing over buying

Tell me why I should!

FurryDogMother · 08/11/2014 13:25

What other game lets you find a fossilized udder? I moved on from Sorrel (though she did turn up in the nightclub just now), and am playing Mayfair Parklane, a writer with monetary ambitions, which have so far come to very little. She's just about to collect her third frog though!

Still not had time to try building, but that's the next project :)

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 08/11/2014 14:15

I am put off by the lack of toddlers tbh

Celestria · 08/11/2014 14:29

3pigs, you should buy it because:

Toddlers are missing and I thought I would hate it, but having tried to raise a family without them, I don't miss them! Raising kids is hard enough Shock

The building is so easy.

The game is a lot more realistic and harder if you don't use cheats.

It plays like a dream.

The gallery in game which allows you to easily download other people's lots etc.

Because I said so Grin

Made the DH-alike divorce his wife, they're still living together but he spends all his time at mine looking after the baby I had by the guy in the park and which I largely ignore.

FurryDogMother · 10/11/2014 14:30

Mayfair just got married (to Raul) 'cos she's a bit traditional, and there's a baby on the way. Raul is taking his responsibilities seriously, and has just become an astronaut so he can keep his family in the manner to which they'd like to become accustomed. Mayfair's not too fussed about that because she's raking in over $3000 a day from writing royalties. She keeps making Raul fix things, because it's funny when he gets electrocuted.

Celestria · 10/11/2014 14:43

I've been playing a whim challenge, I adapted it from the wishacy sims three challenge. Idea is to fulfil as many whims as possible in one sim lifetime. No cheats, no cancelling whims. My sim has the Renaissance aspiration and just completed it at the grand old age of 106 sim days. As a reward I used the young again potion so she is back to the start of her elder days but the challenge is over. Will check stats when I get back in the house, think she had over 105 whims completed.

She's been great fun, a goofball, insane and creative. Level 8 in handiness, cooking, logic, programming, comedy and painting. Actually level nine in cooking and painting. I would have liked her to have a baby to carry her on but she's an elder now and the young again potion will only put her back to the start of elderdom.

I've bitten the bullet and bought it for dd for Christmas - the main problem is resisting having a quick play myself between now and then!

CrimboHornedSnowflake · 28/12/2014 09:25

Ok I have finally caved and got Sims 4, half price on Origin sweetened the deal!

So far... I like it! I'm primarily a house builder on Sims 3 so not too happy with the lack of lot choices for building so far but gameplay is good and my gardener sim is enjoying creating new plants.

oneflewoutofthecrazynest · 03/01/2015 11:06

Does anyone know when they will start releasing extention packs? Smile

CrumpleHornedSnorkack · 03/01/2015 18:19

This month apparently, an Outdoor Retreat expansion/game pack

I love Sims 4! Can't wait for the work expansion pack in April! Grin

browneyedgirl86 · 16/03/2015 18:26

I just got the sims 4. Long time sims player and curious to try it out. Nice to see its got such a positive reception. Reviews almost put me off!

GNUTerryPratchett · 22/04/2015 11:40

I've just bought this, having played sims for many years. I am quite enjoying it so far but not explored much yet.

LollipopViolet · 13/09/2015 21:27

OK, sorry to bring up an old thread, but I got a new Mac recently that can run this game and I love it! I've played every Sims game from the original, and this is my favourite, I do miss toddlers though :(

What I like, is that my Sim can go to work pregnant! Finally, I don't have to take ages off every time I have a child! My current Sim has 2 DDs, one about to become a teen, and one newborn! I wanted her to have a DS, but the house is way too tiny for any more Sims, and I can't afford to move :( Oh well, maybe next generation - my current Sim is 2nd generation, and has about 15 days before she becomes an elder, her DH is a day older.

I also love how they have child sized instruments :)
