Ok, so I have an xbox 360 and a pretty decent laptop that I play Sims 3 on......but I really really want it!

If no one replies by this time tomorrow I will buy it and hold all MN responsible

Haven't got the Kinect. I was told by someone that had one it might not be great in our tiny living room.

I might get one at a later date. None of the Kinect specific games really intrigue me.

I got the xbox one with Destiny offer and 12 months Gold membership. I had 10% discount mail this morning as it's my birthday soon, so all that comes to £350ish which I'm pretty pleased with!

I am so excited. I can't wait for The new Alien game to come out, allegedly in October!

I love that all these women are so excited by console gaming and are discussing the big titles they want . I'm debating whether to get The Last of Us on PS3, or wait until I get the next gen PS4 to play it. Would love to hear what those of you getting new consoles think. TLOU - old gen or new gen?

Oooohhhhh, Destiny! I've been watching some vids on youtube of the beta's being played by testers and stuff. I wasn't going to consider it at first, but I'm gradually changing my mind. It looks great on next gen.

I don't have an Xbox, but the Kinect is just a camera/motion sensor that is an additional piece of hardware. You can choose to buy this or not. I don't have the camera thingy for my console, and don't miss it as I don't play any games requiring it.

Apart from the games and graphics, I've spent hours entertaining myself with the voice/motion controls. Browsing the internet/lovefilms from the comfort of my chair just using words and gestures make you feel like a starship captain.

I walk into my room, tell my xbox to switch on, tell it to bring up explorer (the most powerful magic of this device is that IE works fast and efficiently), lie down on the floor, tell it to go to youtube, move my hand to select a song and start a work out. Once I'm done, I pick up my controller and slaughter noobs across cyberspace. I'M LIVING IN THE FUTURE.

So you don't need the Kinect to activate the gestures/voice controls?

I think you do need the kinnect for that.. how else will it see/hear you?

Yes it comes with a controller (and a headset so don't buy another one like I did!) you do need the Kinect for voice activation.

I've been down to one of the electronics store here, as my big TV has just died, and I was planning on upgrading my TV anyway, as well as getting the PS4. Using a poxy little 20' TV atm. Purchase will probably be around January 2015 .
